Coming a bit late to this but my 2016 goals are
1. Make 'us time' for hubby & I without the kids!
2. Tell Tesco Bank where they can stick their credit card (( finally -paid off but just need to get the courage to do it)
2b - Pay off Credit card 2 and keep it so.
3. Check my bank account daily/not bury my head in the sand about ANYTHING financial.
4. Loose 8 stone - its not just my finances that got out of hand. I have stopped playing at money saving - now I have to stop playing at fitness/weight and get of my butt and start doing it again (Lost 5 stone in 2009 but put it back on due to a variety of health and comfort eating factors so feels so annoyed with myself).
5. Fill my sealed pot by Christmas and not to open it before.Debt free May 2016 (without the support of MSE forum users that would never have been possible - thank you all)0 -
hey Everyone! How's it going? Sorry I've been a bit quiet of late....
I've not been too well but I have a renewed focus and some new goals. I've managed to shave 2 months off my DFD so now I only have 17 months to go!! I can't believe it. I just need to keep 'the head'.
I can feel it is close enough to actually feel it, I've been on this road for so long now (since 2007). Let's hope the next 17 months go quickly.
I hope everyone is doing well xxx2019 goal
0/£150000 -
1. Read 216 books (151/216) - well ahead of target with this
2. Read the Inspector Morse books (11/13) - likewise with these
3. Finish stitching Medieval Dog - nope, need to have a concerted go at this
4. Start stitching Medieval Rabbit - nope, this doesn't get started until the other is finished
5. Finish Winnie the Pooh year (0/12) - way behind on this!
6. Start stitching Map of Cambridgeshire - again dependent on the other cross stitch being done
7. Finish small Crewelwork piece - very nearly there
8. Get knitting done to over half way - made a muck up of this and need help to sort it out
9. Knit 13 sampler squares (2/13) - errr, ooops!
10. Knit a cowl - this is going quite well!
11. Go to a Clinique counter and get my skin assessed! - not yet
12. Wear make up 26 times (8/26) - hmm a bit behind on this one
13. One day get to 2,000 steps (this one will be tricky) - best I have managed is 1872
14. Do 13 new recipes (9/13) - ahead of the game on this as well
15. Have a facial and back massage - booked for mid June
16. Blog weekly (or more often if possible) (17/52) - in between my various blogs I am on track with thisMust use my stash up!0 -
1. Continue paying my debt, overpaying if/possible. Still on track, but cashflow has been difficult lately so I owe my mum about £200 extra.
2. Save £1500 in my emergency fund; aiming for £1000 by the end of May. Now £500 and will stay as such while I focus on my Rainy Day Fund!
3. Save £500 in rainy day fund. Down to £20 because I raided it to pay for my short story course. Will replace it as soon as I can and get back to increasing savings.
4. Use Amazon vouchers earned from surveys to pay for presents and treats for myself. Gone completely off track. Bought loads of ebooks last week, though many were business-related so might count as investments...
5. Get off benefits — preferably by earning at least £90 per week through self-employment, or by getting a job if I am able (I have long term mental health problems which affect my ability to work). Done! Hence the very tricky cashflow situation.
6. Lose 120lbs. Currently a smidge over 260lb and my initial target is 140lb. Goodness knows — been stress eating like crazy. Just not a priority right now.
7. Meditate and do yoga regularly. I feel better when I do this, but don't get around to doing it often enough! Men.
8. Redraft my novel to a good standard. Still going, but very slowly.
9. Try to get an agent, when the novel is in a decent state. No progress, since novel is not in decent state.
10. Write the draft of another novel. No progress; focusing on rewriting novel.
11. Do an Arvon course — my mental health and finances may prevent this, but I would really like to go on a residential writing course and Arvon has a fabulous reputation. They do grants for people of limited means, but this would not cover the total cost. Starts in just under 3 weeks!
12. Submit at least 25 short stories to literary journals or competitions. These can be stories I've already written, as well as new ones. 2/25. Working on a couple of drafts. Missed deadlines for 2 comps I was going to enter.
Feeling incredibly stressed at the moment and have no idea whether everything will turn out well. I'm terrified that I won't be able to support myself now I'm not on benefits, so don't feel able to celebrate achieving that goal.Rainy day fund — 210/1000 Emergency fund — 1019/1500
