considering moving from sky broadband to virgin fibre - experiences

I have Sky TV, Virgin BB, and EE phone (& standby BB).
Sky's catch up services work fine over my Virgin router's Wi-Fi.0 -
Thanks for your help all, have ordered virgin broadband and phone installation, due to be installed on 25th (a couple of days before the sky contract is due to end) sky have also confirmed need to give 14 days notice so will only be a couple of weeks overlap so that should be fine.
I can apparently give the notice to sky now (as long as the actual end date is after contract end) , however am a bit dubious to do so just in case any problems when virgin come (i.e. if they can't for some reason hook my flat up), but the online team have advised as long as the actual flat number is showing the services are available when ordering then they will be able to do it. ( though am trying to work out where they will have the cables going from the street to the building? I am on the ground floor so that should make it easier!)MFW#105 - 2015 Overpaid £8095 / 2016 Overpaid £6983.24 / 2017 Overpaid £3583.12 / 2018 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2019 Overpaid £2583.12 / 2020 Overpaid £2583.12/ 2021 overpaid £1506.82 /2022 Overpaid £2975.28 / 2023 Overpaid £2677.30 / 2024 Overpaid £2173.61 Total OP since mortgage started in 2015 = £37,286.86 2025 MFW target £1700, payments to date at April 2025 - £1712.07..0 -
You might as well allow an overlap; it can be handy having a 2nd internet connection if there are any teething problems.0

Unfortunately due to the location that the router had to be in (as there is no other phone extension sockets etc) it was over wi-fi, however have moved over to using home plugs when using streaming/smart services a few months back which has improved the reliability.
With virgin, the router doesn't have to be in a set location (ie close to the master phone line)
so when it gets installed, you can ask the engineer to install it in a more convenient place for you.0 -
