Brie melts very well but take the rind off as that doesn't. I often make a bacon, brie and cranberry sauce toastie, that's VERY nice indeed! In the first 'A Girl Called Jack' cookery book she uses brie for all sorts of things, and they are really tasty.0

            Hi everyone,
We're back from Yorkshire and I've caught up with the last couple of days - lots of people going through tough times, I hope it improves for you all.
It seems I'm blessed with a non-grumpy husband so I must try to be nicer to him (I'm the grumpy one I'm afraid).
We had a wonderful time over Christmas and New Year but it's now back down to earth with a bump. We've been spending far too much so we must draw in our belts, especially as we have to pay for roof repairs on the Yorkshire house, DS is getting married later this year and we have told them we will give them what we paid for DD's wedding (her parents can't afford anything) and we have lots of special birthdays this year (DH is 60, DS and fiance are both 30, DH's nephew is 40 and a close cousin is 80.
Oh well, it will all be managed in the end. I have resolved not to buy any fabric for at least 6 months. I have more than enough to keep me going. I also want to try to clear the food cupboards, we have lots in them to use up. I want to be more productive as a whole with my time.
Have a good day.
PS LW, I can't believe they don't have disabled parking at a place where they interview disabled people, it makes my blood boil (see - I'm grumpy).0

Just wrote a long post which promptly vanished. Not doing anything much today so probably eaten by the Internet from sheer boredom.
Have got earache. Husband in bed son could be asleep or could be out still, not sure.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Gers - I don't know whether you would see this in my ime, but I'm sure you can get a temporary card at Costco. You just need to provide proof of who you are (debit card)0

Oooooh- will have a go thanks. Costco isn't too far from mum's house so it's worth the trip.
Thanks
In edit - just phoned them and, yes, they can issue a temporary card! Thanks again.0

Morning, ((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
Its a dank, dark, rainy morning and the wind is blowing a hoolie again. So fed up with the weather. I always have a job in winter, glad to see the shortest day past.
I have an appointment with my sewing room. I had cut the bits out for 3 more mats before the holidays, no idea what I thought I was doing, had trouble trying to get them to fit. Right now they are in a pile, I cut out a new one yesterday, going to try and get that done today and cut another one out.
I think OH might have a urine infection and as usual is moping about. I told him to drink a large glass of water an hour, is he doing it?....No!!! I need him to be on top line this week, looks like I may well have to paddle my own canoe, typical. Regardless he is going to the Drs in the morning even if we have 10ft of snow!!0

            Csarina - Hugs X
I had a rubbish nights sleep - again.... Averaging 3/4 hours a night at the moment - hey-Ho back to work tomorrow, maybe that will sort me out.
Grumpy OH must be catching - mine has had a bad back since before Xmas, so my birthday was ignored, I did everything for Christmas, he didn't,t even offer to contribute financially - I have pandered to his every need for the 2 weeks I,ve been off work to allow him to recover - a friend of mine popped in and asked how my birthday and Christmas had gone, and I said that we,d had better, but it was fine - wow when friend went I got it both barrels - it's not HIS fault he was ill, I, apparently have 'glared' at him all break and spoilt his Christmas - I,m ungrateful, as I didn't,t like the presents he got me (6 X wine glasses to go with the several dozen we all ready have) and an electric toothbrush....
Really fed up - I do all,of his business paperwork for no payment, all of the lads he employs got taken out for breakfast the last working day before Christmas, and a 'lads' night out and a slab of beers too for their hard work - I didn't,t even get a thank you - knickers to him...
Moan over - I,m off to make dinner XNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

I was about to say 'good morning', but looking at the rain lashing down the windows and the trees almost bent double in the wind, I think I will just say 'MORNING':rotfl:
Big hugs to all those going through family issues. I think we'll all feel better when things get back to whatever normal passes for in your household.
DD is back from ski-ing. The flight was delayed slightly and the journey home took longer because of the poor weather. We ended up eating the requested beef stew at 11.30 last night!
She starts her training tomorrow as a student veterinary nurse:T I've washed all her brand new uniform because the shirts could have stood up by themselves when they came out of the packet! They're not much better now but I'm sure they will soften up with wear.
Lovely chicken in the slow cooker for supper. Can't decide whether to do roasties/sprouts or a lovely fresh salad. I'm getting a bit fed up with winter veg but the weather doesn't suggest 'salad' to me - although there's still plenty of lettuce in the garden.
I'm itching to get going with seed sowing. My veg beds have sat all winter with a covering of straw/manure from the chicken coop and the bunny-run so there should be plenty of nutrients there. I already have some potatoes about 6" high left in the ground from last year.

Been dipping in here most days again for a while. Seems I'm not alone with Mr Grumpy. At least the grumpy hours will be concentrated into fewer hours per day when he gets back to work. He may even be away a few nights. One of the reasons for being grumpy I'm afraid.
I will be much occupied with taking MIL to radiotherapy for the next 5 weeks. That will probably take about 3 hours most days and more than that once a week for doctor appointments.
Trying to get on top of the housework. Fortunately I am self employed so can more or less work as and when, except fitting in appointments for folks to come.
Peace at the moment, 2 adult child residents gone to Star Wars with DH. MIL is cooking this evening. Will go and find something to do. Not hard."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
