You don't have to give up your HSBC account just because you want a second account elsewhere.0

Regarding nationwide they don't bug you could apply for a credit card and use the soft search, if it comes back with a decent limit above 1000 say and below a 19.9% APR then you might have a good chance on the current account anything else will be a likely decline.

ok, so basically when i open a new account i avoid the switching service this will avoid my old account to remain open and i just manually bring over my DD and standing orders etc?

Hi John,
Do you have a link to there soft search i cannot find it on there website.
My gut tells me to wait but the only difference in a few months will be few more positive updates on my credit file from my credit card and catologe which incidentally i've only held for a few months.0 -

As I already commented in your other thread a few hours ago, start with a FlexBasic application.0

Hi Archie,
Thanks for your post.
If i applied for one of their package accounts and get declined, a decision which will appeal and say still fail could i in that short period of time apply for a basic account.
Furthermore you said on the thread after 6-12 months i can upgrade is this pre-approved system i.e how my account has ran or is there a external influence via the form of a credit search?
Thanks0 -
I suggested that you start with a FlexBasic application, not a FlexPlus one. Are you sure it was me who said you can upgrade after 6-12 months?0

Hi Archie,
May have been someone else.
Ive got a full account with HSBC really want to upgrade to a packaged account.
Is it looked on favorably having a basic account and then asking for a upgrade? Is this upgrade done under a pre-approved basis or is it subject to a credit search?
Thanks0
