Unless I am mistaken, the LEZ and ULEZ are different things in London.
The ULEZ that I said I would avoid is a tiny area of central London. There you need Euro 6 (or will do in 2020) but if you want to drive through without, you pay something like £10 per day.
The LEZ is a much larger area that covers most of what is inside the M25 (and a little outside it). The requirement here is only like EU 3 or EU 4 or something.
The ULEZ is therefore the only one I need worry about for a good many years. Apparently I can't post links here because I am a new member but if you Google "ULEZ London" or something similar, the map should come up.0 -
To be honest I don't think it will be long before the ULEZ spreads out to the current LEZ limits. I must admit I thought it already had, but then all the vehicles that I had anything to do with were all over 3.5T. One was scrapped for spares and exported the other sold off, we now rent an LEZ compliant vehicles on an daily basis when needed.
The price for non compliance of the LEZ was around £100 a day for the vehicles we had.
TFL have moved the goalposts a few times and I wouldn't trust them.
Or the EU for that matter.
Perhaps myself and others are being risk averse due to the proposed length of time you are going to own the van.
10yrs is a long time in TFL and EU land. Let alone 20years.
Try and get them to price match the Euro 5 price for a Euro6 and see what they say.
Though it would hardly be a hardship going round the M25 and ignoring London and therefore avoiding the LEZ and ULEZ.
Some of the proposals by TFL are horrendous, zero emission capable Taxis and minicabs within a few years which is awkward as only the Tesla currently makes the target unless you want a Leaf, Kangoo or NV200 etc.0 -
TfL. Which is part of the GLA. Not parliament, if that's what you're meaning - it was nothing to do with parliament.
For the 47th time, because they only have powers over London.
TFL is just a massive Quango.
And covers the entire Metropolitan Police area. Which is not the same as the M25.
Certainly nothing to do with Parliament.0 -

The ULEZ won't even come into existence for another four years, and will be the same area as the congestion charge - so very easy to avoid, unless you actually need to go into that area which, with a camper, you won't. Ever. Full stop. It'll also affect ALL vehicles - cars, motorbikes as well as vans and up.0 -
Just wanted to say that I finally agreed a price and put down a deposit for a T28, 84ps medium roof panel van with a dealer. Ended up having to go for the T28 because VW refuse to fit a medium roof to a T26 (dumb) and not being able to order the colour I wanted (green for general low profile...ness) because VW inexplicably offer normal height vans in all colours but the medium roof in only about 3 colours (dumberer).
The price was just under £20k (otr, inc vat) and constituted a 15% reduction on list price. I pushed several dealers pretty hard and by the end, the offers I was getting were very similar so I'm pretty sure there wasn't much (any?) more that was going to come off.
Also, sorry if this is borderline necromancy!0
