Went on my Healthy Living walk this morning which was really good but at lunchtime I was ravenous (see below ) :):):)

Made do with last nights left overs for lunch, stuffed and full so I won't be cooking tonight.

Made another couple of squares for my Linus blanket for the charity

Mending : my DGS has just asked me to fix his sleeve on his jumper which has come unravelled so thats a job for when I get home.

Weather turning really chilly now,I will be snuggling down under a throw tonight I think with my thickest PJs on and my white company dressing gown Its really thick and I treated myself to it about two years ago, worth ever penny as well Cheaper than putting the CH on :):):)

JackieO your evening sounds exactly what I do when I'm home of an evening.
I love spending time by myself in my own home doing what I want to do. Snuggled up in my pj's, under a throw, either reading or watching a bit of tv. :j
Tonight, however, I'm at my friends for the evening, minimising on food...we have shared....making do with what's in my friends fridge/cupboards. Haven't mended anything today, but I'm sure I will tomorrow!:D

Spent the day @ DS1 and he and GF spent day filling in forms for all the benefits they can get since she is pregnant. They hadn't got around to filling in forms and although I hate them I managed to keep them at the job in hand rather than drifting off to make tea etc (cos I made tea - bought in bagels for lunch and made em up etc! :D
We even filled in the post baby forms as once babe is borne they wont have time brain space etc!!

Also made DS1 do Martin's budget - he ends up with£114 disposable income from job one and sometimes he gets other work which makes this work. Martin's demotivator tool made them realise that if they both quit smoking and most alcohol - with treat built into budget once a week - then they could save up for driving lessons and a car within a year! :D

May whatever Gods anyone believes in bless this site; its workers; contributors; and Martin - it seems to have been a genuine light bulb moment for them today! :j

So feel Ive minimised their spending + mended their budget + made do with the contents of their pantry and freezer!! Then went to work and got back about 7 and made myself gammon (cooked yesterday) scalloped potatoes; beans and egg for tea! So making do and minimising again!!! :rotfl:
Like the potato peeling crisps idea!
Well done everyone for being sooooo busy!

Make-doing today was meals, DD turned the 4 pitta bread we had into pitta pizzas for tea. All I needed to buy was this weeks cheese :D I have just realised that I didn't get the mozarella out the freezer to use with it so I may do pizza again later in the week (using crusts from the bread) and use that up. I think I had fruit and mince pies for lunch :rotfl:

Minimising was my food bill. I split the list again between A1di & A5da, wrote the latters prices on the list so when I went into A1di I could see if the stuff was cheaper in my store. I managed to grab some ys salmon fishcakes which I can have while DD has some frozen ones she likes which adds another meal to the mealplan list, and then I managed to get some ys crumpets and 2 loaves of ys smartprice bread as I don't think my homemade stuff can come in cheaper than 18p a loaf :D

I've also picked up smartprice toilet roll to try. Last time we used it would be about 10 years ago and it didn't agree with DD or I. I'm giving it another go, but I'm also going to pick up a cheap pack from h0mebargains & A1di when I next pop in so we can compare them and decide if we're going to down shift from the Shades brand we've been using.

    Morning all
Just had a text from my job share friend, she's well enough to go in today so I can get the sewing machine out till lunchtime I still have yesterday's mending to do as we watched a DVD last night, didn't really enjoy it so its going to the CS next time we visit.
Minimised a Christmas candle last night, it looked pity but didn't give off any scent. I like burning candles on cold nights so will fish out another from the stash to replace it.

  • Morning all,

Busy day yesterday, so happy to have a bit of a quieter day working from home. Will minimize the leftovers from last night's tea for lunch. Tea tonight I think is burrito bowls again, back by popular demand and this time I'll remember to put the beans in, so should get a couple of lunches out of them.

Today is a gym day and then I'm in work for a long day tomorrow, so better get on with things today.

Today is a work day (I work from home) and DD is out at a club straight from school so won't be in until 7pm by the time she's got the bus home. The club is free and she eats there so no evening meal for her. Then she goes to McD0nalds after club to get a hot drink to keep her warm while waiting for the bus but will be using her pocket money to pay for it. Since I'm flying solo for meals today I'll probably have some soup as we have a few emergency tins DD has now declared she doesn't like. Lots of making do then!

'Mending' and minimising will be me sorting out my accounts for work. The pre-Christmas info hasn't been entered into the programme I use as its my busiest time of year and can result in my most complicated invoices to break down. I just write everything down on paper as it happens and shove it in a file to deal with in the new year when I have more time and less hassle. There will be lots of paperwork going in the shredding and recycling piles today as all those sticky notes and scraps of paper get sorted.

Hi Everyone, you are all doing so well...and hopefully budgetsense rubbed off on your son and DIL lyn.I am sure they will have their moments because they are new to it but it soon becomes engrained.

I find it hard to spend money these days.Well to be exact
1)spend on buying new things for myself,I am mostly clothed from the chazzer.
2.)Spend on stuff for the house. All my furniture is secondhand, not quite old enough to be antique but luckily I like old.So there I am eeeeeeeeeeebay queen.

The range cooker for the new kitchen was £140.I will have to buy a new chimney for the extractor as my measurements are different. The American style fridge was £250.The butlers sink was £30.

I sit here waiting for the plasterer, today he starts in our bedroom to cover up the 70's style rough plaster which was the fashion then. When that is done all the plastering is finished. The new wall in the kitchen is beautiful, seems a shame to cover it with a kitchen.

We are going out when Mr V finishes work at 10am to pick up some floating shelves from eeebay. We have been going out at any excuse as its cleaner and warmer than being at home.Kitchen started to be fitted on Wednesday.woohooo!

Yesterday we went to see my jeweller friend.I have lost weight and my wedding ring was too big.I lost it twice in one day.Hanging washing out and washing up so She is going to make me a new fancy ring.I have taken her 5 gold rings for scrap and she will use the diamonds from my engagement ring and eternity ring in the new one.It is Mr V pushing for this.He must think as I wear no rings I will be hounded by suitors!!!!!!!

She was telling us that she had someone in with a job and she quoted £200,they had been quoted £600 at a chain of high street jewellers.

She isnt quick as she is so busy!Word to the wise there to try independent working jewellers. She can make anything from just a pic.

No making or mending for me recently. We are in limbo, just camping out till the works done on the house. Will be back on the horse as soon as poss.Laters Vx

  • Yesterday was another good day for the three Ms.

MAKE DO - I had left over pizza for lunch and quiche made with leftovers for dinner. To go with the quiche I had a mixed salad and a nice seeded roll I bought last week that was YS and just popped it in the freezer.

MINIMISED - I went to first U3A class yesterday which was on Current Affairs and very informative. Instead of using petrol to drive there I went by bus using my over 60s bus pass.

MENDING - Before xmas I bought a table cloth for one of these round chipboard tables that sits beside my settee and holds all my bits and pieces when knitting at night. I couldn't find a size to fit and bought one very cheaply off eBay that was too large . I altered it yesterday and took 3" off the width, it looks much better now.

I will be home all day today so hoping for more M,M &M today.
