  • Gosh everyone's been so busy!
Lovely cross-stitch Mrs MP and thank you Kerfuffle for what to do with potato peelings, I'll try them next time.
Make do: I made two loaves in BM on Saturday - one white for DD1 and one wholemeal. Will probably need to do another wholemeal today. We had roast chicken yesterday and only used the breast meat so today I'll use the legs for chicken fajitas. I found a fajita kit in the cupboards when I was sorting them out a few weeks ago. The chicken carcass will then be used to make stock and then chicken broth for the freezer. My mum has made army quantities of hotpot so OH will collect some from her and that is tomorrow night's tea sorted.
Minimise: Began knitting a pair of socks at the weekend using some of my stash. I've never tried socks before and I've started on a pair knitted just with two needles before I try knitting on four. I'll finish that tonight.
Mend: Our printer won't print. I've put in new cartridges but it says they are empty and prints nothing:mad: I need to sort this out as DD2, who is final year of university, really needs it and I can't print off a new knitting pattern I want to try. Wish me luck!
    Have a good day everyone.

  • Good afternoon fellow MMM-ers

I have just been reading back and I am amazed at the amount of energy and effort we are all putting into our lives - reckon we should be very proud of ourselves. I am sure that part of its success is that we are all reporting back and getting encouragement.

So over the weekend, I have tidied my bedroom - made piles for the charity shop and reorganised all my clothes so all clothes that fit are together, other things I hope to fit into over the next few months etc etc.

I also was quite ruthless with my clothes. Please tell me why I still own the pair of chinos I was wearing when I was told I was expecting? My son is 28 in the summer!!!! They are a size 10 and I will never be that shape again.

So I have mended a handbag which had a hole in the lining. Later I wll be adding some press studs to three dresses where they flash more of me than I want them to! I have polished seven pairs of shoes and even discovered a pair of trainers that I had forgotten about so that's my making do.

I continue to minimise me! Three swims since Friday and more general movement. A couple of swimmers last night mentioned that they had noticed I had lost weight which gave me a real boost too - I wonder if people realise just how much those small comments make - so I will make sure I give at least three compliments this week.

Finally the storecupboards and freezers are looking lighter too. I have used five cans today, one of which was a can of chickpeas BBE March 2008 - no bad effects so far, thank goodness. I am normally quite good about rotating cans so I don't know how that slipped the net.

I hope everyone continues feeling positive and moving forward
    Pauline

Went on my Healthy Living walk this morning which was really good but at lunchtime I was ravenous (see below ) :):):)

Made do with last nights left overs for lunch, stuffed and full so I won't be cooking tonight.

Made another couple of squares for my Linus blanket for the charity

Mending : my DGS has just asked me to fix his sleeve on his jumper which has come unravelled so thats a job for when I get home.

Weather turning really chilly now,I will be snuggling down under a throw tonight I think with my thickest PJs on and my white company dressing gown Its really thick and I treated myself to it about two years ago, worth ever penny as well Cheaper than putting the CH on :):):)

Just back in from a day at work. Having coffee then need to meal plan the week, sort a rissotto out which is making do with stuff we have in the cupboards.
Dh commented he's split the neck seam on a long sleeve top he wears so that needs mending, plus I remembered a nightie of mine came apart at the seam when I rolled over so I can get the machine out to mend both of those.

Follow up to the saga of the work aprons- 3 schools, 1 nursery kitted out with painting overalls, 6 more aprons here waiting to be re-homed BUT my daughters came over today, thought they would be great for cooking as they have pockets in (?) and swiped one each!!

Total surprise at work the other night-my line manager decided to give me a 'One Step Beyond award for my work in re-cycling the aprons, rather than throwing them away. £20 voucher for nagging-result!!

Spent the afternoon ripping off woodchip wallpaper, not very exciting but I keep thinking of all the calories I've burnt; no need to go to a gym to tone your arms, you should see my muscles after 4 hours of doing that!

Still ripping off woodchip, still saving money on gym membership, muscles coming on nicely, tho can't say the same for my patience!

Our son and daughter in law are moving house so I gave them a load of boxes to help pack up the house, more stuff gone.

Well done on the voucher cath, brilliant result. Plus the warm fuzzy feeling of getting something repurposed instead of it going in the landfill.

CathA I lost a couple of kilos when I got weighed at the hospital on 31st December so it included Christmas. My nurse said it was probably the decorating, we decorated our new flat in December.

When I think back I think I have always lost weight when decorating perhaps we need to take it up professionally.

    Congratulations on your award.

Good Manager for recognising your efforts Cath & well done to you too.
Minimised -6 empty jam jars on freecycle - I can never bear to throw them away so have kept the ones I like for my preserves next year and these can go.
Found a little travel hairdryer in the loft - was going to put that on Freecycle too but when I checked to make sure it worked its died in storage so that will go to the tip.
Mend? Finished my re- crocheted scarf - just in time for this B cold weather.
Make Do - DH did extra veg yesterday so we're having the same again tonight - bought a couple of beef joints a few weeks ago in MrM and did one in the slow cooker. I had a spice mix for beef that came from Israel so I thought I'd give it a try. Looked like bay, Rosemary, juniper berries and other stuff. I oiled the joint and rolled it in the spices and put about half a teacup of some red Wine that we didn't like in the SC and put the joint in for about 4/5 hours! It's really tasty and the gravy is superb! There's enough for another meal too so will slice and freeze for another day.
Need to sort my freezer out as the small one could really do with defrosting - I'll try to run them down a bit first so I can empty it.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
