Nicki, I used free patterns off pintrest, I put free book folding instructions in the search bar and a few came up. Some of the more complicated patterns are sold on etsy etc but you can get some free.SPC~12 ot 124

I have loads of it now in various colours, and have upcycled many things; one of my faves is respraying honey/jam jar lids to make matching sets of storage jars for beads, craft stuff, kitchen things etc.
Many jam jar lids to make sets!
So todays [7.30am] make do was spraying a very tatty lid from an old glass storage jar so I can re-use it to keep rice in. The original chrome paint had half worn away, revealing white plastic underneath, so it got a quick respray in silver and is already dry and in the cupboard containing the rice.
Good luck MMMing today
I made some mango chutney last night and when I was inspecting it today I thought how much better the jars would look if the lids were sprayed, particularly if they are advertising Robertsons! And now I know it will work, thank you!Solar Suntellite 250 x16 4kW Afore 3600TL dual 2KW E 2KW W no shade, DN15 March 14

Hooray!!!!
I've finally managed to have a day when have fulfilled all three MMMs! :j
Make do: there is a sausage casserole in the slow cooker using up some 'pigs in blankets' from Christmas.
Mend: have repaired a pair of anti-inflammatory gloves for my arthritic hands
Minimize: chipped plates and bowls thrown away - no use to man nor beast.
I feel that can be a real part of this thread now. :TUse it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
Many thanks Mrs CD I checked my cupboards today and I have all of the ingrediants ,so I will make one at the weekend, and slice and freeze it for a 'treat' when I feel the 'must have some cake ' munchies.

Arthritic old thing,do the gloves work?Have never heard of them but could do with some.
A couple of years ago we made jam and preserves for the Grannys for Christmas.Beforehand my youngest dd painted on the glass jars with white gloss, reindeer, xmas trees and stuff. We painted some drinking glasses similar and the jar lids. They are still going strong after many uses and washes ( but not dishwasher). We let the white dry and did snowmen noses and rudolph noses etc with nailvarnish. They looked so cute.We grew the strawberries, rhubarb and collected blackberries too.Froze them as we harvested until we had enough to make a batch of jam.

Yes Vulpix, I find the gloves do give some ease when hands are bad. The Occupational Therapist prescribes them. She calls them Magic Gloves because of the help they give. They can be bought as well.
They come in fingerless types for day use and full gloves for sleeping in if hands make sleeping difficult.Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.0 -
I think who ever invented wood chip should be hung, drawn and quartered
They should be killed, along with 10 of their closest relatives!
Alternatively, if that's a bit harsh, the retailers should sign an indemnity to agree to come round and remove it if in future anyone wants it removed.
In my sitting room when we moved in over 20 years ago was a whole wall on the fireplace wall, where the wood chip had virtually 'welded' itself to the wall as there had been a back boiler there.
I can remember spending a fortnight trying to remove this stuff and my late OH finally saying "Give it up Jax, its not worth the effort I'll sort it"
He went out and bought a whole stash of wood and panelled over the top of it.To this day the panelling is still there, and a couple of years ago I got it painted in white egg- shell paint and it still looks good.
No doubt one day when I'm long gone some poor devil will decide to remove the wood and I think a blow-torch is the only thing that will remove it:):) its dreadful stuff.
AND they still sell it in shops- Why she cries? We've got one room that needs one more wall de-wood chipped. Then just the lounge, stairs, hall and landing to go, oh my days!!!
JackieO xx
Patience is a virtue, can I have some now please?0 -
Nicki - can recommend Nicky toilet rolls from HB - I used to buy Shades but the Nicky ones are £3.99 for 18 and are thick but not harsh.
AOT - can you give some more info to on the gloves please.DH suffers with arthritis in his knuckles. He uses ibruprofen gel when it's bad and he found that a pair of neoprene fingerless gloves also helped but I'm interested to see if there's anything else available.
Beautifulravens - I love a can of spray paint too! I wanted a piece of metal wall art to go above our fire but the colours were wrong for the room so a couple of cans of metallic car spray paint worked a treat. DH also did a beautiful job of spraying two old dark wood bedside chests for me - with new knobs they really look the biz. Hav'n't thought of jar lids though - may do in future to coordinate my kitchen stuff - thank you.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Thank you! I didn't realise they were that cheap
No making do or mending here today. I've minimised in my bedroom though. 30 random items in the bin, a couple of brand new make-up items have gone into my work stock box as I've not used them in 12 months and I know my customers buy them, a few more items flung into the charity pile and some packaging into the recycling.
That's me for the night now except maybe some knitting later to reduce my stash some more.Creeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
