  • We got an awkward gift from MIL that I dont know what to do with. Its a print of a vintage arial-view photo of our village [very interesting picture, to be sure] but out house isn't in it because we live just out of the main village. So its sort of...OK. Its not framed, and I cant hang many pictures here because on most walls they go mouldy [damp house] and MIL comes round every week and I dont know what to actually DO with it!

  • I've got bang into finding stuff lately. Went into town after they took down the decorations for the Christmas markets, and found a load of tinsel and a couple of wreaths for next year's decorations.

Two days ago, I was looking for a computer chair. I found one in a charity shop for twelve pounds, which is pretty good all told. (Would have been five pounds for delivery as well). I applied Martin's money mantra, "do I need it? can I afford it?" Technically it's a luxury, so I decided to skip it. So yesterday, just a day later, I was out walking and I found a computer chair! It's just what I need, padded and comfortable, with arm rests. The stuffing is coming out a bit in one place, which I can fix, and otherwise it's perfect...

I've also found a computer desk. The sliding drawer wasn't working as it was missing a few screws, so I fixed it; I cleaned it up and now I'm using it.

Also finding a fair bit of wood to make rudimentary shelves. The next thing I'd like to find is a kallax-style set of shelves
    - or have a crack at making one... ;)

Why not explain about the mouldy wall issue ad ask if she could store it for you, or even put it up if her house is on it? ;)

I wonder about scanning the print and subsequently adding it to a pc/laptop background ensuring the print is visible when MIL comes round, again explaining the issue with the walls?

    Good morning everyone.

Didn't make it to DDs the other day as was coughing and throat was sore. She was sick too (antibiotics from doc today), so her stuff is still here, and I expect will still be here until I evict it, lol.

The fridge repair man is due tomorrow, so I need to minimise the kitchen so he has somewhere to work, lots of junk out there which is destined for the bin.

I haven't been near the shops since Saturday, so no spending for me, but expect I'll have to restock the fridge and freezer when it is fixed. At the moment fridge stuff is in a cool box outside the back door.

But first, another cup of tea while I decide where to start .......:D

I'd add: then store it in a plastic bag somewhere flat and you can either use it or lose it when you move. Sorry about the mouldy walls - not nice to have to deal with that.

Can anyone suggest a recipe to use up a jar of roasted peppers? My mum was throwing them out (as they weren't eaten over christmas) so I saved them from the bin. I hate food being thrown but I am now at a loss as to what to do with them :rotfl:

Nigella did a recipe in her Christmas programme where she mixed a jar of roasted peppers with diced potatoes and then baked them. I can't remember how long for but it's probably on her website.

I drain them quite well, chop them up and add them either to salads, pasta or add them into tomato based sauces so DD doesn't realise she's eating them ;)

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!
