They are lovely roasted with vegetables. I like them with onions, mushrooms and courgette. they are in oil already so just toss them with the other veggies, season with salt and pepper and you can add some herbs such as oregano, thyme or lemon thyme.

We have jars of them (made from a reduced box of peppers got from the greengrocers a few weeks ago :)) and add them to HM pizzas, to salads and SC stews really. They should last so no need to worry about a speedy use up

  • Oh dear me - the repair man has been today and has decreed that my washing machine is not worth repairing - it needs major surgery and the cost of the part is £160 plus the labour cost involved in completely disembowelling, remove faulty part by grinding , inserting new part and re-assembling.....so replacing with new is the only option.

I will be making do, minimising and making do as much as possible - squeezing the pennies until the queens eyes water!

Our Christmas aprons are not required back at work this year (they are changed to a different style every 2 or 3 years) so I've suggested that we give them to local schools and nurseries for the children to use as painting overalls. So that's another good idea for any company that's changing uniforms; shirts are good painting overalls for kiddies, put them on backwards and there you go!

After much nagging of the people at work, we've got loads of aprons and have benefited 3 schools with 30 odd aprons each, to be used as craft/painting aprons. We've got about 14 aprons left and they are going to a very small local school, but if I find any more I'll be distributing them to any school that wants them!

    Evening all

Tea tonight was YS chicken drumsticks with sweet potato and carrot mash, very yummy and there's enough leftover for OH to have again tomorrow night while I'm at work. I'll have a rummage in the freezer for something to take with me, I'm sure there's a portion of spag bol in there which will be quick and easy to heat up.

We've got someone coming tomorrow to change over the electricity meter so had to take everything out of OH's side of the wardrobe as that's where the meter is. Managed to minimise almost a black bag full of stuff so when we put it all back tomorrow it will be a lot tidier. OH is now encouraging me to minimise my side of the wardrobe but that would probably take more than an evening :rotfl: so it's definitely a job for another day.

Oh I was wondering if anyone can explain to me how you can link to specific posts - just thinking in case anyone wants to post recipes I can then put a link to them from page 1 as the 2015 thread used to do. I have absolutely no idea how to do this so hoping someone can explain it in very simple terms.

Jackie O - as I am Lid!l girl that will suit me well - thanks so much for sharing! :A

Good work Cath A - I love to see stuff reused in that way.

Many thanks for your thoughts re bonbon dish. Someone locally suggested - 'Why do they have to be bonbons - as the dish is covered it could be a daily allowance of washed 'nibbly' fruit such as grapes or cherries or sweet tomatoes' Logical Captain - I am gonna try for a 1 lb a week loss which should give me about a 1 and 1/2 stone loss by May (my son will be 30 on 27th of May so I cant really use the 'baby weight excuse any more :rotfl: ) So that would actually be helpful! 1) it gives me good stuff to nibble that is at room temperature (I cant stand chilled fruit!) 2) it saves using cling film to cover some eating fruit ! Which appeals to my eco -friendly stance! (not that i dont have cling film - I do but I only buy about 1 small roll per year!

Re the print and mouldy walls. Keep the print in a frame but propped against the wall - thus leaving a gap - arty style!

MM&M today - another rubbish day on this front cos went to Lid!l for essentials - so far this month that means I have spent £23.26. So now essentials have been replaced; treats still around; YS protein stored in the freezer for most of the month from my wild night in Morr!sons yesterday. Purse firmly snapping shut! Will only venture out for YS breads and salad ingredients!

PS the deli individual steak and ale pies from Ms are really nice - full of meat, non greasy with delicious pastry!! Expensive if on full price but at 52p for a meal on YS its not bad value at all :D

    Nite all

  • Candygirl, Karren, I have diverticular disease and gall stones, so I didn't follow the Dr's advice.
Making do, we are still eating from the fridge & freezer, the only things I have bought are shampoo and salad.
Mend, I am repairing a pair of school trousers for a friend's son.
Minimising, a friend gave me a bag of clothes, I've saved one item, a summer dress for me, passed 3 skirts on to DD2 to wear for work and passed the rest on to DD1 who has a little ebay business.
    Chin up, Titus out.
