Evening all.
I have resolved to try and contribute more to the thread, but lack of Internet today has not helped. I have found out how to tether to my phone so am doing that until engineer arrives (or I run out of data - luckily I get warnings and it cuts out, rather than running up a big bill:eek:).
We are making do food wise at the moment as I don't really know what is in the freezers - evidenced by me getting out what I thought was veg curry but in fact was soup. Mah well, we had a bonus starter. Back on the 5:2 (ish) so it adds bulk with few calories, so it's all good.
I have just mended DDs brand new phone after she put the sim in the wrong slot. Attacked it with tweezers but don't tell OH. :rotfl:
Minimised the ironing pile.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Can I join please I've been reading through the thread over the past few days and lurking.
Yesterday we mended the lazyboy chair the interior sprung cushion had fallen apart so we took it out and stuffed two big good quality cushions into the space. The three in the house who have teste it said it feels much better, best bit it was epic red with stuff we had to hand rather than paying out for.
I've been making from scratch this week using recipies from the grocery challenge recipie index so using up excess food we'd got in rather than buying more.
Also trying to use up my wool stash so am currently working on a crochet blanket.SPC~12 ot 124

I had a go at making banana ice-cream with some bananas that were going brown. You cut the bananas into chunks, freeze them and then put them in a blender with some milk (or left over cream). Be warned, it makes a mess when you blend it (well, I did anyway!). My little grandson is with me for the next 10 weeks so I'll see how he likes it. It is a bit solid, so I'll have to get it out the freezer well before I give him any, break his teeth otherwise, poor baby! I'll report back.
It wasn't too bad, had to chip chunks off of it with a knife and sort of chop it up a bit so it wasn't quite so frozen but it was ok. First of all he wouldn't touch it (too interested in Balamory!) but i ate some of it which sharpened his attention! He finished it off quite happily. I'm going to defrost it a bit more on Thursday and drink it as a smoothie. X0 -
don't touch ll as the number of people I know whove done it have gained all of it back and more and ended up having gallbladder problems
just cut out processed food and cut back:A :j0 -
We have been making do and minimising food stocks left over from Christmas. OH bought some YS bean sprouts last week so we have been having them in salads, chucked into a chicken and noodle soup and in wraps with home made lamb kofta kebabs.
My big minimising job today was packing away the Christmas decorations. Instead of hoicking it all up into the attic (I hate going up there) I cleared some junk out of a cupboard and managed to fit all the decs in there. In doing so I got shot of some that were past their best, and stuffed the sections of the tree in a dustbin bag, thereby getting rid of the huge box. I am now feeling very smug - no more climbing into the attic for decorations! One life - your life - live it!0 -
I have rescued an orange by cutting away the bit where the peel was torn, including the flesh underneath the tear. The two thirds that were left were perfectly edible.
I have paid my burial insurance, minimising potential costs for my family. I have had this insurance since birth, when my parents added me to their policy. I pay €85/year, and am insured for €10,000.
We have paid the membership fee of the 'Family Union', a Belgian organisation that fights for a good family life. It is €40/year, and gives €20 annual discount on gas, €20 annual discount on electricity, €30 discount on swimming lessons for dds, and several other benefits.
The mending pile is growing again.......Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
Looks like there's been lots of MMMing going on today
My make do lunch from the fridge raid this morning was lovely as was our tea. Was hoping that there might be some leftovers to take for lunch tomorrow but no such luck. This evening I've made some gf bread - hate paying stupid money for bread from the supermarket and also some flapjacks to take to work.
Right better get off to bed, need to be up early bells tomorrow.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.7.25 - £106,653.66
Mortgage overpayment savings - £33.53/£50

Evening All - can I be included on this year's thread please?
Loving all the aims lists - won't call them resolutions as I know how flexible they need to be with RL.
I've already picked up some tips - I've wrapped cucumbers in foil but never thought to do cabbage or celery - thank you!
DS1's birthday is on Wednesday & managed to get two large terracotta pots reduced in the sale for him and I had £4 voucher so they came out even cheaper so I'm a Happy bunny. He likes his garden and I know he's got two poplars that need pots so these will be perfect. DS2's birthday is next week & I hav'n't the foggiest what to get him.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Hi, may I join - I'm a bit of a lurker and find these posts so useful! I'm aiming to overpay my mortgage consistently this year, so will have to up my MMM ways, as well as find some inspiration for other things to do.
Today's task was finding out where the bike sheds were in the office, with the aim to cycle in a few days a week, reducing my commuting costs and my gym membership...lets see how it goes0 -

Making do all day for food - using up some feta in an omlette for lunch and yesterday's curry for tea (yum - why is curry all the better the second day????)
Minimised loads of paperwork and stress!
No mending today but I must take up my jeans - as i walk along the road the water creeps up em!!! (they were second hand from a friend who is taller than me but as i ve lost weight and the fat is no longer holding them up and out they now reach the floor! :rotfl: i refuse to look at it as a disadvantage of loosing weight - it good mending practice).
Still NSD but i will need to go to shops soon as im out of oats - peanut butter and only have enough butter for one cake - have only one mince pie left of the Christmas stash unfortunately there is an open box of after 8 thowonder how long i can eke them out?
