Sorry to hear about your friend jojo77 its an evil disease that sadly takes all too many folk .
quote <<I tend to follow the earthquake watch site and wondered why there were so many earthquakes in the middle of the US away from fault lines. They are centred round Oklahoma which is the centre of the fracking in the US>>
The chaps name who gave the talk was Harry Roberts and he was very interesting. He showed us the map, and the northwest around the Blackpool area is where they want to 'sink' all of these drills and also in the south east. But he said if they get the permission to drill our country will end up like a teabag with thousands if drill holes where ever they can find a spot.6-8 thousand in Lancashire alone. His argument was the ends just didn't justify the damage it would do to the local environment for the amount of oil produced, as after a year the well is only producing 30% and after two years virtually nothing.
Why should overseas investors come to our green and pleasant land and drill holes where ever they fancy, irrespective of local opinion.
By the way once drilled it take very few operatives to manage so no extra work for local people .Just think of how those mobile masts have already started to despoil the country side, even if locals don't want or need them The government is just riding roughshod over ordinary people views Drill a whacking great hole through the middle of Westminster if they want the oil bad enough:mad::mad::mad:0 -
Hiya All
Been busy renovating while my son has been up here from Hastings - am totally knackered!!
Jojo77 - sorry to hear your news
Jackie O, Floss and others talking about Fracking - I have long been against it - and as part of my degree was in geology I predicted subsidence, tremors and as a result falling house prices. With my other degree was business studies and it was obvious that it would not result in jobs for locals as much of the work was specialised and had low long term employment - since many of the companies running Fracking were not uk based - all profit would go abroad as well!!! Do not understand WHY those in power cannot see these very obvious facts!:mad: Now am getting off soap box!
Mending - huge list!!! Bathroom skirting board + filling and painting bay + painting hall + + +
Making do - mostly on the food front as I have had to feed son who eats like food is going out of fashion! So had some frozen portions of soup - some YS breads frozen and some stuff bought on SO such as passata and pasta so I could make many dishes for his second week here while only spending £10 at Lidils and popping to local shop for milk. Have also made lots of cakes/traybakes while he was here!! Somehow his mates came out of the woodwork and could smell baked cake from over 30 miles away!! :rotfl:
Minimise - have been through some of my previous course materials and thrown some away which I would not use again and are now too out of date to give away!
Nite allAim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j

Morning all
JoJo so sorry to read about your friends diagnosis, all I can say is don't feel guilty about past missed times but try and make the most of what time you have and build some more memories by spending time where you can supporting your friend and being there if she needs someone. Hugs.
Re packs of soup you could add it to casseroles stews pies or lasagnes, I made DS spag Bol the other night using soup as the sauce base he commented how nice it was.
Cleared my ironing basket yesterday so that's a good minimise
Going to sort some stuff I've put by for the CS so that will minimise clutter in a spare room.
Got a school shirt and a hoodie to mend for ds2 tonight.
Make do will be today's food fromthat we have in.
Have a good day all.SPC~12 ot 124

If they get a 'job' on the board after they leave office, with a large salary for very little work why should they bother about a few inconvenient facts - just sayingAiming for a Champagne Lifestyle on a Lemonade Budget

Sorry to hear about your friend JoJo.
Had a fairly productive day here, cleaned out the front porch which had become a bit of a dumping ground. Sorted some shoes and a coat to take to the charity shop and a few bits of junk found their way to the bin. Got 2 loads of washing dried on the line and minimised the dust downstairs. Need to tackle the spare bedroom tomorrow as we're having visitors over the Easter weekend.
Leftover lasagne for dinner tonight.0 -
Had a good tidy on the front, minimised a load of weeds snails and old ratty plantpots. The snails see rehomed into the shrubs on the park just incase you are worried.
Had a good sweep and also bagged up a load of Autumn leaves that were still lurking behind the planters and under the hedge.
Took some shoe boxes up to school as someone could make use of them. Filled 7 bags to take to the CS on Friday and filled a bag and took that straight down the clothes bank.
Also minimised my inbox by about 800 emails there are still 4000+ so need another go at that soon.SPC~12 ot 124

Went to the gym this morning - didn't exert myself too much! My friend retired yesterday so I took her for a celebratory coffee and scone after the gym lol.
I've made a sausage meat and apple plait with YS pastry and a Granny cake for DH. Will have half the plait to night with mash & cabbage and the rest is in the freezer for another time.
Need to sort the washing basket - weather looking OK over the next couple of days. Does anyone else find that their calendar looks fine at the beginning of the week & then somehow fills up at an alarming rate? I thought I'd have at least a couple of 'free' days this week but they've been filled up - still, musn't grumbleone day has gone to help DS1 and the other is to accompany DH on one of his 'runs' (being the supportive wife that I am!) at least there may be chocolate this weekend and the clocks go forward :T
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Just nipped out in the garden between DHs training sets and fixed garden arch together that and the arbor/tall clematis stand are now back up in their new positions. Need to move a couple of the clematis tomorrow and see if they survive in their new places or if I need to get new ones.
Know what you mean about calendars filling quickly silva, we had theatre run for ds2 and his school mates last night, I've got meeting with his headmistress tomorrow afternoon followed by parents evening then Thursday my work mates have organised drinks after work, Friday we've got CS run and shopping then Saturday ds1 is back from Essex so we're picking him up from the bus station. Sunday I've got the clan round for dinner. Hoping mil will be on her best behaviour.
Tonight will be my only chance so I'm def chilling with a cuppa and my reading book.SPC~12 ot 124
