I made corned beef hash to used the last of the carrots and the last swede both were Aldee super six, onions were from Lidl when they was 29p kilo and 3 large potatoes. We've had this for evening meal and there's plenty for tomorrow too. x

So far I have minimised my stash of tinned tuna by two :) still have enough in a bowl with some tinned sweetcorn to have for lunch today .I keep going to the cupboard with the 'tinned overflow' and am digging out tins I had forgotten I had.The freezer is also reducing slightly which I am pleased about ,but there is no way it will be down enough to defrost for awhile.I may do a large casserole of some of the meat in there over the weekend and get it portioned up.I seem to have a fair bit of lamb and beef that I had bought and just frozen straight away before Christmas when everyone was buying turkeys etc.

Jackie was it your U3A who were having a talk on cracking? As we've currently got a public inquiry going on just around the corner to decide whether it should be allowed up here, I'd be very interested to hear what you thought. Although the sites are several miles away, there will be fracking lines below the town, and we've already had several small earth tremors since the trial sites were set up.

I thought we had been spared the Fracking for the time being because the collapse of the oil market had made it too expensive.

Ours got given approval by the government because our council were thoroughly investigating before deciding.

    Hello fellow MMMers
Minimised most of the food in the fridge, ready for our Easter break.
Made do with the 3nd half of the corned beef hash.
Mend knitting if that counts, I've done a baby cardi and Pram/buggy blanket, I've just got to sew the sleeves up and stitch one button on and e cardi is finished.
Hugs to anyone who needs one x

Yes it was, and the oil consultant who came and explained all the pros and cons said that it would not be a good way of recovering oil from the ground as when you do this it is not an infinite resource, and a fracking well that produced 100% of oil at the beginning of the procedure after a year is only producing 30% at the end of 12 months .Apparently in the US the fracking market has 'bottomed out' and its been found not to be a commercially viable proposition He pointed out that in the Lancashire area alone for each 'well ' you need around 2 thousand acre of land for the machinery etc and lorries to remove it.He said that Cuadrilla is looking to sink 6000 wells in the Lancashire area. This chap has worked in the oil business for over 35 years and says if fracking is gone ahead with in the UK we will have no end of problems once the oil has gone with subsidence etc. The US market is flooded with 'wildcatters' who moved in and make a pile and are now looking for fresher fields .Very worrying for local people as this is a far smaller place than the US and far more highly populated

Thanks JackieO, Quadrilla have blinded people with their "jobs for locals, more money to be spent locally" spiel and people locally don't want it.

I live in Lancashire not far from where some of the testing has taken place. There has been a big anti-fracking campaign and our local councillors supported local opinion by not approving the fracking plans. However, the government decided it was too big an issue for local authorities to make a decision on and are taking it out of their hands:mad: So no democracy in this part of the world! Before my blood pressure increases and I start shouting I will stop there. :)
Minimising: I've cleared out one of my kitchen cupboards this afternoon and have a little pile of odd plastic boxes and lids - none of which match. I also found 3 rolls of kitchen foil and various drinks containers. OH was saying he couldn't find any and was going to buy a new one for the gym - now he has a choice of 5! I've got 5 bags of clothes to take to the charity shop this week, not all mine I may add.
Make do: I've baked two banana loaves which as I write cooling in the kitchen and wafting their heavenly smell towards me. With such good weather this week, I've managed to dry all the washing on the line.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
