Been a long time reader of the forums and enjoyed reading your debt free wanna be threads and have gained a lot of inspiration. . Subscribed to this one.
Good luck on your journey to being mortgage free.

    Mr and Mrs T
You're very welcome onboard. I misread your name at first as mrandmrsstring :rotfl:

Well I finished 1 side of the kitchen and it looks great, there's a few bits that need touching up, but I'll give that a go next weekend along with the other side.

The water meter was fitted Friday, and I fitted the shower regulator and toilet filler thingy at the same time that Yorlshire water sent me for FREE. Now the kids are commenting that the shower isn't as powerful since the meter was fitted :rotfl: I'm not telling them it was me!
It's still got lots of power, and to be honest there's a lot less water all over the floor after they've been in now, so good job all round.

I didn't manage to do any ebay listings this weekend, but I managed everything else. Ald! shop came to £50, so that's £330 spent on groceries in January  (includes catfood & alcohol) so challenge for Feb is to bring that down by 10%, then 10% in March then....you get the picture.

Forgot to read the meters today, see if I remember in the morning as I'm away tomorrow night.

Catch you later in the frugal week, enjoy xx

Don't worry when I signed out as Mr and Mrs T made me laugh at the accidental reference to the A-Team.

DS has failed his theory again :( 4th attempt on Thursday, it's the hazard perception, it's a stupid test, he's a good driver, I can't see why clicking a mouse watching a video is any measure of how good a driver you are, plus they don't tell him why he failed so how is he supposed to get better?! At £23 a pop I think it's just a money making excercise.

I had to do mine a second time as I was a bit too good at spotting them and the computer thought I was just randomly clicking. When I re-sat it I booked it for after a day at work when I'd be a bit tired and just sat there tapping a bit too slowly (imagine me sat yawning as I did it) and passed without a problem, was ridiculous.

    Hope he passes next time.

Thank you, I'll make sure he stays up late on Wednesday night :rotfl: He did say he thought he was clicking to quickly, I mean how can you spot a hazard too early?!

I had a very unfrugal moment today, as I pulled on to the M1 and my fuel warning light came on. How could I have not noticed before  I had to put in £10 of highly overpriced service station fuel, to get me to a nice cheap supermarket forecourt.

I need some ideas to make £290 extra in February, I think a second tax rebate is highly unlikely

    2 posts in 1 night.....

I need some help. I always used to be pretty active, although I cancelled my gym membership when I started my debt free journy, I've always stayed pretty fit, cycling, walking, running. But since last year I just can not find the motivation in me. I did have a half hearted attempt in the new year, but just got ill and gave up.

Any tips for a couch potato? :o

For me the trick seems to be consistency. I have to do something every day (or 5-6 days/week at least). If I let it go any longer than 1 day off (like last week), then it all goes to crap and I do nothing for ages.

I don't bother too much about what I do - I found a long exercise list online (push-ups, leg presses, stairs, running, cycling, etc), so I count it a win as long as I do something even if it's as little as a few situps. I have been trying to get some cardio in every work day, mainly because it forces me to get away from my desk at my lunch hour (and take an hour for lunch rather than 10 minutes), but if I'm feeling crap one day and can only do a few push-ups, so be it.

I also have a chart where I can colour in the days of the month as I do fitness - I like seeing the solid block as I go for long(ish) stretches of fitness every day.

I'm only a month in, granted, but so far I've done more exercise in 2016 than probably the last 3-4 years combined. :o
  • hi,
December last yr I was on the verge of needing bigger clothes. So firstly I change my diet so the processed sugar has all but gone. I started eating fish and a lot more fruit. the upshot has been 8 pound weight loss and a lot more energy so I don't find exercise a chore anymore. I have also found giving myself an exercise goal really helpful, like signing up for a park run for example. I have found taking "ownership"(hate that expression) of my health very empowering and the results even more so.
    hope this helps

Thank you hiddenshadow and ecofarmer, yes both have helped. Taking ownership, yes something I'm not great at (obviously!)

I LOVE the idea of a chart to colour in, that I'm definately going to do, I need to find a wall calender.

A NSD today, and a cheeky skinnylatte on expenses :T
