Thank you all so much for your support, perseverance pays off, I did have some wobbly moments when I wondered if it was me being unjustified, but no it was him being unreasonable. I keep reading through the ADR decision with great satisfaction, in fact I might actually frame it :rotfl:

It's been an eventful week, minor accident, deposit dispute resolved, part time business is going well, plus a chat with my boss and his boss, both asking what it would take for me to stay and not accept the other job (not that know if I've actually got it yet, still waiting).
The result of the 'chats' is though that if I don't get the job then clearly I need a new challenge and yes that would mean more money and a company car :D.

This week I am incredibly proud of my dear kids. DD, who had a particularly difficult teenager-hood and left school at 15 with no qualifications in the back of a police car, has completed her 2 weeks training with mencap, and now starts her probationary period working with adults with learning disabilities. Part of a longer term plan to be a mental health nurse. Now thinking of not going abroad this summer, but getting stuck into the job.

DS is on half term and has worked the whole week for his friends dad doing property maintenance, he's been block paving, replacing UPV windows, cutting hedges etc, and on an evening he's been doing 'lifts' for extra cash. Not sure if that's actually legal, but it seems fairly common practice amongst his age group. Next week he's back at college and has already arranged to be taking 3 others to college and back each day at slightly less than the bus fair, and a door to door service, so they all get an extra hour in bed!

The nest is already feeling half empty. I really want to take them away on holiday, but finding something we all want to do at a price I can afford is a challenge. They will have to contribute something, a team meeting is needed I feel!!

    So on to this weekend...
Not a great deal planned apart from a gym induction tomorrow (yes I joined a gym!!) I found a deal on groupon, 2 months membership plus a personal training session for £35 in total, which seemed a good deal to me. I have also downloaded a free wall calender and will print it out at work, Monday. It's going on my wall and I'll colour in each day I do some exercise, might have to have some rules as to what constitutes exercise though!

Other things to achieve this week end

Nice result on the work front, whatever the new job outcome, sounds exciting :j

Your kids are doing well, love DS's enterprising and grafting :D and hope DD settles in her new job too.

I get the feeling the years between school and settled in work are tricky territory for teens these days. We've got all this to come!

Gym sounds a bargain and hope you get through your list :)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
  • I think all territory for teens is tricky, i'm glad life was so complicated when I was that age!

Mortgage offer in :D, I need to read through all the fine print tomorrow and then send off.

No sign of the bond back yet, although the letter did say up to 5 working days.

Gym induction was fine, and I have printed off a wall calender with 2 squares to colour in :D

Another travel expense claim ready to go in at just over £500, although I must admit I'm sick of driving so far this year, and my car is still in the garage so driving round in the toy car still.

A quick work trip to Italy coming up next week, which just happens to be a 20 minutes drive from Naples, so a swift trip round pompeii must be in order, it makes up for having to work the weekend (and driving!)

Finally STILL no word on the job

Those dear kids...I arrived home last night to a tidy house, dishwasher on, lasange in the oven for tea, and then I find 5, yes just 5, pairs of pants in in the washing machine. I bite my tongue as I've no wish to spoil the hum of domestic peace because of an inefficient washing load. DD did remark she was very pleased with her self for actually thinking to do a whole working weeks worth of pants at once.
DS then promtly put in 1 pair of jeans and a tshirt for the morning and set it going before I had chance to realise what he'd done.

Today I am thankful for my childrens kindness and steps on the road to independance
Tonight I am going to think of a positive way to demonstrate washing machine efficiencies.

Love your diary, as always Skinny :)

I've got DS working out which is the washer and tumble dryer, and putting his clothes in it... but he seems to have had memory loss on all things domestic since back at school this week :rotfl:

  • My son yesterday managed to make himself scrambled egg for lunch after a lesson the other day I gave. Unfortunately it didn't extend to the washing up!

  • I have the opposite problem with my DD and the washing machine, she chucks everything in off her floor until the door only just shuts. Blacks, coloureds, whites, sweet wrappers.....bless.
