Soundbar for old style SONY Trinitron tv?

Options
My mother has an old style Sony Trintron tv. It is connected to a Virgin Media V+box for cable viewing (not HD) and she has a full package of channels including films. The picture is still brilliant but she is finding the sound a bit difficult to make out on some of the channels, in particular the films. She is happy with it otherwise. Is there a suitable sound bar which would improve the sound quality?

It really depends just how old the TV is.
SCART connected devices are becoming few and far between.
I'm also not sure a sound bar would help her to differentiate dialogue from the other sound effects in films. If anything, a sound bar would enhance the effects at the expense of the dialogue.
Might want to think about the neighbours too!

If there is a headphone socket ,just connect a pair of cheap PC speakers. We paid ~ £30 for a pair of reasonable Cambridge speakers for an old LG TV and the sound is much clearer (as well as being capable of higher volume without distortion)
