Welcome one welcome all we are all looking to cut back on as much as possible

Bathory nothing infuriates me more than all the packageing that seems to be the norm today. You can't even buy a small electrical item without having it stuffed into a large box filled with uneccessary packageing.

I loathe and detest excess packing.I live alone so rarely have more than a small bag of rubbish per week and I am pretty good at filling my recycling bag.I have a full one that goes out to the bin men about once a fortnight so very little rubbish really Virtually no food waste as I bought it to eat not bin :):):) so if needed it will be frozen until ready to be used, but I even work out my fresh food needs once a week so I have almost no food waste at all. I live around four minutes walk from a shopping precinct where we have recycling bins for various rubbish so I can drop bottles/tins etc off when I pop over to the shops.

Nothing to buy today only I have to exchange some trousers my DD bought for my grandson Jack right length ,wrong waist,he is quite a slim young man ,yet he can eat for England grrr.. so annoying that :):):)
    Have a good day chums

Hi all - I am also going to join for the second half of the year. I have been fiscal fasting for the past couple of weeks and am starting now to think about the summer holidays (and Christmas already, eek!) so it will be good to get further into the NBI mindset. I'm also trying to Kon Mari my house slowly but surely - I have just started a Music Magpie box which, when I get the money, will go towards paying down some debt.

Thinking about Christmas - I am trying to think of things I can wrap up for DS (he will be almost 6, and then will have his birthday 3 weeks later!) that will be an impressive looking present pile on Christmas morning but won't cost the earth and won't bring loads of new things into the house -consumables really. Any suggestions? I have Amazon vouchers and Love2Shop vouchers to pay for it all.

I have a few birthdays coming up, friends of DS and a friend at work, but I'm hoping to find enough in the present stash at home to mean I don't need to buy anything else.

    Good luck all x

Yay thats brilliant news Lyn I'm so pleased for you.I do wish you the very best in your new house, and a nice relaxing time in your new life in Cornwall.

I threw caution to the winds at lunchtime and splashed out 60p for a purse from the W.I charity shop that is in a local village hall.

Its only open two hours a week, so today was the first time I ventured there. My old purse was really past its best, and I had been pricing them up in the shopping mall.Upwards of £15 !!!!, not for this frugal old lady That's a weeks housekeeeping !!.This one is leather and a sort of odd shade of pink, but I'm not bothered about the colour, and it has lots of bits to hold my loyalty cards in place and easy to get to, and at 60p I am delighted with the price

So this week I have splashed out 50p for a T.G. Greens blue and white stripey cream jug from a junk shop and 60p for my purse.

Do you think my Happy Cash Stash is being frittered away :):):)
Not safe to be let loose am I :):):)
No more spending for me this week I think

    Cheers chums JackieO xx

I could do with both of your buys this week JackieO. Been looking for a small milk jug for several years and purse is getting rather worn. I think it is about 7 years old. You must be a magnet for bargains considering you do not shop often.

Welcome to all the new people

Its true, shops and I are strangers as I'd rather find something more interesting to do than trawl around shopping malls. But each to their own. I do have to do some food shopping this morning for fresh fruit and veg and a couple of things for the cupboard that I am running short of The school holidays will be here soon so I need to stock up on flour, marg etc as I will have three permanently hungry little boys to feed once they break up :):):) I swear they can eat their weight in cake at times :):):) and biscuits just vanish.
    Right onwards and upwards

It's been a long time since I've commented here, but I love reading your all your posts when I can.

So what have I been up to?

I've been incredibly busy, helping my son who has Asperger's syndrome move into his own flat. This was all done on a budget :)
We managed to find a leather two seater sofa & arm chair for £100 from a local charity shop.

And a Solid oak M&s bed, only 6 months old (from a neighbour) for £70. Super bargains :j

Now I'm exhausted & feeling a bit poorly.
I had to have a emergancy visit to the dentist last week because I'm in a lot of pain with my tooth & unfortunately it has to come out.
My face drained when he told me as I'm terrified of the injection.
He decided I'm to have it done at the hospital,as last time I fainted due to a adrenalin reaction. Turns out there will be no cost because of this, what a relief as it would of cost £200:eek:
    Kindness costs nothing :)

I am hoping for a NSD today - I did just give 80p to the lovely homeless lady that I pass on the way to work but I am treating that as an act of kindness rather than a spend. I didn't actually realise I had 80p in my purse so it is like it was never there now.

So today I am grateful that I have a home, enough food to eat well and a job to pay for all the things we need. Even though things are tight sometimes we can still afford holidays and days out so I am luckier than most. I've just found out I'm personally in the top 2.5% on the Global Rich List, and as a family we're in the top 0.29% which really is food for thought. If you'd like to do the same you can look here: http://www.globalrichlist.net/

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are from stores, and I will be straight home after work. Pilates at lunchtime so no spends there.

    Have happy days all.
