Day 21/366 Mr GBT has kindly popped into the local Coop as he was passing and picked up a couple of ys goodies. We have dusted off the old freecycle breadmaker and he's going to make some fruit bread at the weekend. It's been several years since we've made anything in it but we both fancied trying some new recipes in it. For me it's been a long day of self employed working and no spending. Did come home with a lovely reusable bag with hares on it from my Mum which was a freebie.

My recipe for chicken stock is put the carcass in a pan cover with water add 1 teaspoon of vinegar and bring to the boil and simmer for 4 or 5 hours. Let it cool then put through a sieve to get rid of the bits and freeze in small amounts. It goes thick like a jelly when it is cool.0

Well, have had a a NSD today and am in fact in profit in a small way. Was at a conference event at posh hotel, so drinks, snacks and very nice lunch all provided. Took my allocated biscuits and banana home for the kids (am not a great biscuit or fruit eater), and the lunch was so ridiculously huge that I don't now need any tea.
And it's Friday evening now, my very favourite time of the week, as nothing to do (apart from having to ferry the kids to beavers/cubs), no lunchboxes to prepare, no uniform to sort, no homework or spellings to supervise. Plus DH has not worked today and instead has tidied the house and done a bit of cleaning! Very happy!0 -
ouch RicardaRacoon !! Your fall sounds really painful I don't think I would have been able to get back up and run for the bus if that happened to me ! Hope you're feeling better now
Well I have had a bad week this week and will admit to 2 takeaways
I am back on the NBI bandwagon again now though and will be batch cooking today so I am not tempted again. I am making satay chicken and piri-piri chicken today and tomorrow I am doing a large pork joint in the slow cooker and making pulled pork - the extra portions will go in the freezer.
I'm away next week for a friends wedding but that is already budgeted for, so I should be back to shopping/spending just one day a week after that.
The sun is shining (makes a nice change !) but there is not a drop of wind outside so I will put my washing out on the line but may need to have the heating on a bit later to finish it off. Am glad we don't have the snow like they have got in America at the moment !

Day 22/366 Another NSD The BM worked a treat and it was lovely to enjoy a slice of hm bread with cheese and a glass of hm vino while I caught up with some TV programmes on i-player. Mr GBT is planning to make a fruit bread next.

Went shopping with by BF yesterday. Was great catching up with her since I haven't seen her in months  We did a bit of shopping (she bought a lot while I was just helping her chose
) and went for lunch as well. Overall I think I spend around 55 € which is fine with me. I bought essentials like a nice, cozy sweater, a new watch and of course lunch!
Today OH and I will be going to the city again - this time to book our summer holiday. :T :rotfl: We do get an early booking discount so that's fine too
Hope you're having a good Saturdayweight loss journey: 3 KG / 8 KG

A big ebaying day today, clearing out some of the kids' old toys, so that will hopefully be income, however, this has been counteracted by me having to do an asda shop, primarily to get items to make DD's birthday cake, needed a cake tin (the ones I have are wrong shape/size) and some ready roll icing, but also stocked up on packed lunch items.
also had to go to dunelm for the right colour cotton to repair DS's last year's winter coat (replacing a broken zip). we always buy the kids' coats a size too big, then the following year, they become the spare coat for doing grubby/muddy things and/or for when the current coat needs a wash). while there, i found that they had some laundry liquid reduced, for even cheaper than aldi, so stocked up on that.
was very controlled though and did not buy anything else, despite big sale in dunelm, so am moderately pleased with myself today.0 -
Hi All
I seem to have had a spot of shore leave. We will be childless for a week in a few weeks time so we have booked a few days away.
Also I had my hair cut today and whilst I was in town I had a mooch in a CS. I picked up a complete cross stitch kit for £2.50 including the frame.0 -
OH is almost over a throat infection; although I had to top-up shop during the week for stuff to make him feel better, most of last week's planned meals remain in the cupboard/ freezer so that will keep food shopping down this week :j
We're visiting family at the weekend so have a 4.5 hour car journey on Friday night. Always toy between car snacks/ supper on arrival, stopping for a meal on the way or having an early meal before we leave. My tummy unfortunately doesn't do so well when I stray from routine so trying to balance this with sensible spends.
Picked up my glasses this afternoon. Due to the current 'in fashion' frames being too big for my face, rather than have a new pair for the sake of it, I've saved some cash by having lenses in frames I already had.
Paid some cash in that we received at Christmas so we don't get tempted to order takeaways in Feb.
Caught up with a friend last night, rather than our £20+ takeaway and film night, she was on board with NBI and we watched a couple of movies I already have and got a frozen pizza, chips and chicken goujons.
Finally, picked up some travel guides from the library to help decide on where to go this year. :cool:August 2016 GC £249.70/£150
July 2016 GC £114.03/ £120
June 2016 GC £170.09/ £1750 -
I would like to jump aboard if not too late. My plan is to be completely debt free by the end of the year. Only one credit card to clear, but have a couple of big expenses to deal with this year which will cause some problems but I think I can cope.
I did have a plan to do this, this year but did not realise that there was a thread devoted to it. So in preparation I did clear out any purchases that I knew would be gnawing at me until I bought them but also managed to get a good deal on them as well so really have nothing that I want to get this year. So I have barely spent anything this month already. So my spend so far this year has been significantly less than last year. It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.0
