  • Hello everyone! It's a bit late in the year I know, but I'm joining this thread as I really need to declutter my house. We moved in a year and a half ago, and there are still piles and piles of boxes not unpacked...clearly not stuff we really need if it hasn't been used in 18 months :rotfl:

It's a public holiday tomorrow where I am, and I am off work but hubby isn't so I'm going to get stuck in to decluttering then. Determined to try the house in shape before Christmas!

1927. Box of food bags used up, box recycled
1928. Pack of toilet roll used up
1929. Can of deodorant used up, can recycled

I've not got much done here as I've been at mum's continuing with the clearance. This week 15 bin bags went off to the charity shop, loads off to the recycle centre and more items given to friends and family. I'm still asked if I'm feel I'm getting somewhere now, but really I feel still overwhelmed by the amount of stuff I'm still finding. This makes this challenge even more important to me as I don't want to be a hoarder.

  • Well done all - especially Blubella for your early morning decluttering blitz.

I cant find the piece of paper where I jotted stuff from yesterday so will have to edit later. Here's what I can remember:

    1024. Green bin garden waste
    1025 & 6 - dead underpants
1027. dead pegs gathered from the garden
    1028 & 9 - 2 x rings to CS
Shifting my energy for 2020 :heart::heart:

I think I just got a little frustrated with those people adding "I put a piece of paper in the bin" as I see that as just regular tidying up after yourself as opposed to decluttering.

I agree. Things like recycling and general rubbish aren't clutter. (Unless you're a hoarder and it's covering your whole frontroom!) But then I guess 2016 items is quite a high target and it's more achievable if you include the odd cereal box. I had a major clear out when I moved house and try not to bring tat in, so it's been difficult for me to find actual clutter.
I choose not to add rubbish to my total, but as long as everyone is achieving their own personal goals and having fun, each to their own I guess :D

Just the one for me today...

  • I sorted my cupboard under sink, lots went in bin. Looks lovely and tidy now.
    Another bag to CS.
I am really pleased with my de cluttering, I have got rid of loads. Now just have small boxes of stuff, instead of a couple of cupboards full.
Do feel guilty putting my little Gu dessert glass in recycling.
