That's how I dealt with business expenses too as I would end up paying for certain things and then claim it back. I think if I pay for the business expenses using my credit card then that might be a work around.0

I didn't have YNAB4 but coincidentally signed up to YNAB on launch day of nYNAB. I have done all of their webinars for nYNAB and they did mention the "turning the arrow to the right" thing a few times (which meant nothing to me) and they explained why they changed it.
Re importing bank data, no way I'm doing this even if it works fine. When I had £1,000 fraudulently taken from my account, NatWest reimbursed me on the basis that I had not given my bank details to anyone else. So to protect me from fraud, I won't be giving YNAB my bank details. Apparently it's harder with UK banks anyway, which is why currently they are not supported?
On importing data from YNAB4, agree that this should have been sorted before launch of nYNAB but one of the teachers said they'd chosen not to, as it gave her an opportunity for a fresh start. Given that YNAB4 is a downloaded programme, you're not going to lose that data. So query whether you want to wait?
Like anything new, it will look really horrible and weird first because it's not what you're used to, but give it a week and you won't even remember what YNAB4 looked like. Or stick with YNAB4 - all that'll happen in a year's time is that they won't be putting out new updates, and that may or may not mean it'll continue to work indefinitely0 -
Sounds like they desperately need to generate income if they have launched a new version with some serious shortcomings.
Wonder what MS would want for MSMoney code base, there could be some money to be made buy adding front end support for mobile devices.0 -
Update - Performance has returned to normal, but we have paused YNAB 4 Migrations while we prepare some fixes and improvements to help us get to the bottom of things if it acts up again.

ynab4 is fine for the time being, using it for a while anyway with up-to date budget.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -
Just reading about the new version now, YNAB4 does everything I need and like any old dinosaur who fears change I will probably keep using it until the first time there is a bug they will not fix, or Mobile Support ends, but even that probably isn't a full on game changer.
Everything is going subscription based and while I did poopoo it for ages, I now find myself using Office365 but luckily I get it through work. Subscription is the future and you can see why they do it.0 -
Such a step change in technology would inevitably result in gaps. I think they should be saying "we'll run both in parallel for at least a year before thinking of dropping support for v4", since there are some differences. As it is, it reads like "you have a year to move". Back in 2011, YNAB was my "lightbulb moment" trigger, so I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt with new "ideas", it's more the missing things (eg. reporting) I'd like to see a roadmap for.
Kind of like the lack of client, it means I don't need to leave confidential stuff installed on the work machine. With regards to "reimbursable expense" tracking, I kind of have a solution for myself. On the 1st of the next month, it will pop back into unbudgetted, and I can just re-allocate the negative back to the category. Fortunately, I don't need to track any other "negatives" than just that item. Probably won't work for those with more than one category to carry over.Peter

I forgot to mention, in last night's webinar they specifically said they will be implementing more changes to nYNAB, especially if lots of people have requested them. Today already they have added (back?) the calculator.0

Hi all
Just got an email that it is changing lots more features but you have to pay.
What is the point of paying $5pm to do a budget???
I found the email they sent super confusing and not clear what the changes are?
Does anyone know?
Thanks so muchLBM 26.12.2015

They've made it browser based which is a god-send for me as I use a Chromebook mainly and it's ideal for that. I do believe that if you buy before the end of the month you can get a year for 10% off for life, though there isn't a one-off fee anymore. You can still stick with YNAB 4 as they will continue to support it for a year I think.
There are no major changes from what I can see, apart from that fact you can import bank account transactions but it appears to be US only. You can also create a savings goal which looks to be new but other than that, nothing major yet. I've just gone with the full year with the 10% discount as I was trailing YNAB 4 at the time of release and I was just about the buy that.Love Piggy-banking and YNAB!0 -
Ah thank you that would hel, as I have got loaded on OH Laptop but been a bit lax on updating every month.
Thanks so much I look into thisLBM 26.12.2015
