Advice on barclaycard limit

Hi,
Advice welcome on the below.
I have a barclaycard that I use for small balance transfers, the initial limit was £750 and I successfully increased it to £1,250 recently.
I have two significant purchases coming up, my credit rating is excellent for experian and apparently barclaycard use experian? What are the chances of me getting a limit of £5,000 so that I can pay £250 a month next time I get a 15 month BT offer.
Also how often should I wait before requesting such a limit? I see no hard check on my file but its not been a month since I upped the limit.
Cheers,
grimboj.

If you wanted a £5k limit why didn't you just request it when you applied for your recent increase?
I doubt you'd get an increase of £4k if you only just applied for an increase less than a month ago. However you can try, if the option is still available to you in your online account servicing page. I think most companies request that you wait at least 6 months before requesting a limit increase and some companies will manually increase your limit annually themselves, it's all relative.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. Hi grimboj
if your barclaycard is recent (less than a year) i would think that asking for such increase will probably result on a decline. You are asking for an increase of more than 300%. From the forums here it seems barclaycard is upping limits around 50% and some cases of 100%.
i have also asked for a few limit increases in the year, and on a couple of them it was accepted. Some were refused. My limit is more than twice now since the beginning of the year (used for BT), but i have the account for more than ten years and never missed payments.
About the credit check, it seems that barclaycard dont always credit check when asking for limit increases, but they do receive monthly feeds from credit agencies. To be fair, i would give it a try. I guess they pre-approve you up to a certain limit and when you ask for it you get it straight away. Note that in some cases you get a message that it was refused but the limit gets increased instantly anyway.

If you had an increase recently then I would say your chances are slim to get another increase especially a £4000 increase.
I think a better option for you might be to try another provider. There are several other factors such as your income, debt and available credit which will decide the limit you will get but I think its worth a try.
When it comes to credit limit some lenders are more generous than others - my humble opinion. To give you an example my initial barclaycard limit was around £1300 when all my other credit cards had starting limits between £5000 and £7000.Marriage is hard. Divorce is hard. Choose your hard.

I have read the same elsewhere on the forum although I have never had an MBNA myself.

You won't know until you ask Barclaycard; nobody here will be able to give you the answer.
Also, forget the rating Experian give you - it's meaningless and Barclaycard (and everyone else) will never see it).0 -
Barclaycard have never credit checked me for a credit increase in the past, they always use an internal score for a credit limit increase, however you do need to wait 3 month before you can apply for another credit limit increase.
When you next apply for an increase, request the increase through mybarclaycard online and ask for the full amount you want, in this case you will either be accepted, declined or offered a lower alternative amount
I have found barclaycard to be very generous with me in the past, I have went from £250 to £9300 in 19 month.0
