Best basic bank account?

I really don't think that "free", "debit card" and "cash withdrawals" go together in any bank account except in a savings account. Look at it this way: If the account has a fee table there is not a cat-in-hell's chance of it being free.
Even savings accounts can incur fees sometimes, e.g. for duplicate statements.Probably the only relief is an account which doesn't charge fees such as Secure Trust Bank, Cashplus, etc. But there is still a monthly flat-fee to pay.
An account which doesn't charge fees but still has a monthly flat-fee to pay? So it isn't a free account then.0 -

So it's not free then.0 -
If you're wanting to save money why don't you get a savings account that takes a few days to withdraw from so you're unlikely to use money from it willy nilly? I've got an NS&I one for this reason.
Or is the issue that you are living in an overdraft? I've got a Natwest basic (think it used to be called Step) account and I really like it, the mobile app is brill and you can withdraw from any cash machine now (used to be Natwest machines only).Internet earnings:
Swagbucks - £748
InstaGC -£73
Nielsen Mobile - £70
Mobile Trends - £19.50
iPoll - £150 -
i usually do dip into my overdraft every month. not a lot, but i would like to stop that and then start saving. i'm with natwest now so i'm not sure if they'll let me have another account£2016 in 2016: £30.370

Does anyone know if any basic bank accounts have a debit card that doesn't have 'basic' written on it?0

The Barclays basic current account (used to be called cash card account) has the standard blue debit card that comes with a Barclays full current account.
Nothing written on the card. Except it is not contactless and I doubt they will change that0 -

I wouldn't worry. Almost nobody looks at what's written on your card. Those who do should probably take up a different hobby.......0 -
lol what difference does it make having basic written on the card.
As long as it has enough money to be authorised.0
