Hi all
Just interested to know if MK has a positive effect on mental health?c
very much so, no doubt about it
I cannot stop sewing and am being drawn back to indie 70s designs. More on the sewing thread as that is the right place. KM is being set in motion again this morning. I just don`t want to wear the modern polyesters and the everyday designs and clothes that everyone my age is wearing, so why am I keeping them? Just because I have bought them for some occasion and worn them once. I will keep a few very easily packed things, just in case I go on holiday but have no wish to do so, however never say never and I must keep those to one side. Another big clearout is looming and I don`t know whether to laugh or cry at the stupid past expense. Nah, lets be positive and if I can give someone else the benefit, then why not hand them to the cs. Lets see by tonight, if I have managed to do it0 -
Hello everyone :hello:
I have been lurking around the beginning of this thread since page 1 and now am just into the 200s but I felt I should say hi. I apologise I won't be replying to recent comments of course.
I have read the books, done my undies, kept them more or less as they should be but having kondoed myself into an early retirement (50 and 1 month :beer: ) last year I finally "feel ready" for this. Reading through everyone's tales has got me fired up for it. Last few weeks have seen me get results - I did the front garden of weeds and although I've done this before I would walk sadly up my path before thinking where have all these dandelions come from ? Then go in the house and shut the door lol. Now I realise of course there was probably about two months between the big effort and that moment. I now keep a spray at the door and every few days I'm on top of any new regrowth. Such a small thing but it shows how easy it is to keep on top of something instead of fighting to bring it back. And my much bigger looking front garden gives me such joy now.
Last few days I have gone through my tops and got rid of loads that no longer give joy and have the rest all neatly folded and categorised (tiny bit concerned this is going to let my love of categorising, labelling and sorting come to the fore, I always said my ideal home is Adam West's Batman cave where everything has a lovely neat label :rotfl::rotfl:). Last night (after a few days of clearing space in cupboards, prowling around and tidying surfaces into the new space until Mr daisy commented how nice the house was these days) I pulled almost EVERYTHING out of the cupboard of doom (not as big as the Narnia cupboards but alost a small room size). The stuff that came out literally took over a room big enough to have 3 4seater couches, a dining table and 6 chairs with space to spare. Cue Mr daisy coming home :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: lol. I have needed to do this for years and it is marvelous purging, sorting, properly storing and getting a handle on my WIPs (multiple) .
Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thank you to all the posters on here that have been keeping me fresh and enthusiastic. If anyone is interested I will update further with my circs and how I came to be in such a mess etc etc.

Karmakat, grinning about the idea of a local history society being interested in that old card. Can see why they might be if my ancestor was a person of note but he was just a regular working man, why would anyone want it?!
/political diatribe.
I've been active in genealogy since the late 1960s, and I have nothing from my family of that era except a digital copy of the wedding of one set of my great grandparents in 1903. Even that digital copy is very precious to me.Save2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I'm inclined to agree - I was joking about the eBay sale, but I do think something that old is a bit of social history. Maybe you could persuade your Ps to part with it now, if a local museum can ne located?
Daisy, well done on your achievements and welcome to the thread. Sounds as if you're doing well.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
daisy - welcome - and of course we're interested!

I'm new to the thread too - having read about it on another thread! I have only read the first couple of pages and then skipped to the last couple - will catch up on the in-between in due course.
Anyways - today I have cleared a windowsill in the spare bedroom. Even just that small act has made a big difference.Debt free and Keeping on Track0 -
A friend gave us three large shoppers with girl's clothes, luckily enough with sizes for both my dds (to prevent jealousy). Lovely tops and dresses, tights, socks, shorts, T-shirts. About a third of a bag is now in the 'for Africa' box in the attic, because both girls decided they were never ever going to wear those items.
My eldest has tried on one bagful of clothes, and about half actually fit and look good. The half that did not fit or look good is now in the attic waiting for my youngest to grow into.
My youngest tried on half of a larger bag, and almost everything fit and looked good. We will try on the other half tonight.
I always switch between 'this is enough for them' and 'wonderful, so manymany clothes to pick (and I didn't pay a penny!)'.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
To the new people, welcome and be prepared for uplifting, energy raising, positive addiction. Certainly gives you that lovely heart warming feeling
Woo hoo, yes I did it, cleared 15 items out of my wardrobes, including some new items, a dress that I took up and never wore and a very warm lands end coat suitable for the arctic. All gone plus about 10,000 hama beads and dozens of shape makers, now to be rehomed. Only so I could make space at the bottom of a small wardrobe for longer skirts and dresses to hang without restriction. Its left me a bit tired so rest of today is for taking it easy0 -
Welcome Daisy and MrsPorridge. Please do post your thoughts, successes and questions. It keeps us all going.
I have had a quiet patch lately because of lots of other commitments. The stuff I had already sorted is still a great success and I have had some small wins but I would like to find time for a revisit several categories.
Yes, Daisy, please do tell ! I am [STRIKE]nosey[/STRIKE] curious about anyone's history, hopes and plans. This thread is so interesting because of the stories along the road to the magic of tidying
Today's filing of domestic paperwork, following negotiations of £50 off car insurance (quote wasn't that high to start with so was very pleased to get good reduction) just showed how timesaving and stress busting having 2 neat files can be! I could lay my hands on DH's and my policies within 20 seconds. I also filed the boiler service record and a bank statement. I know many people have everything online but i do like paper copies of some crucial things
I realised that my new shelves for storage cupboard mean I can tidy away a few clean jars for future jam-making. I would like to report that DH, who moans about the empty jars , said the latest small batch, which is raspberry, blueberry and apple is 'really really good'
I am still considering getting one more of the shelves, they are the *perfect* fit and stop the contents getting jumbled. I did make do with boxes but they just weren't right for that space. I use fruit punnets etc elsewhere and they work fine but not in these 3 cupboards. Hmmm, I appear to have talked myself into getting the final one :rotfl:

Welcome to Daisy and MrsPorridge, this kondo mania is definitely catching!
Today I took my mobile phone into the local Tesco store so that the girl in the phone shop could Kondo some Google apps off my smartphone which I only use for texts and calls, on a £5 per month SIM only contract. I didn't want to do it in case I deleted something crucial... better safe than sorry, to be sure.
I also bought a micro SD card which she installed for me and she moved my photos onto it. And she's told me how to get the phone unlocked for use overseas (not Europe) - I need to call customer services and allow 2 or 3 weeks for it to be unlocked. This means I can use it to take photos on my trip and send them to the cloud using wifi, and can kondo my elderly camera, whose SD card has mysteriously gone missing. And I can use the text part with an overseas supplier to make rendezvous arrangements with my friends and family.
A small thing to get sorted, but very relieving!0
