:) Hi guys, am at the parental homestead since yestereve and was up at just after 6 am, showered and chomping thru my breakfast salad.

Last week, I had a minor disappointment in that Mum told me on the phone that Dad had said that The Things (I won't be more specific, they are a matching pair and will be offered for sale this coming weekend) can't go to the bootsale.

Background; The Things were a gift from Aunt for Xmas 2015, one to Mum and one to Dad. They are over-fancy and will never be used and are presently still in their packaging. When we were turning out a huge amount of Stuff in Autumn 2016, they could not go Because They Were Presents.

Aunt brazenly told M & D that she'd won them in a prize draw and didn't want them, so she gave them to my folks. We've no problem about receiving pre-loved items but these were ones given in a very much Thistledew sort of arrangement, so why feel obligated to keep them forever?

A few weeks ago, I got agreement-in-principle that they could go booting, then it was redacted by Dad, but last night Mum and I persuaded him to change his mind in under 2 minutes so they can go! Phew!

Easing into the day, we'll shortly be heading out for some groceries and then I have some sewing up, final stages of the WIP today and tomorrow. Will also be prepping some bits & bobs for sale - really hope it's dry here on Sunday so we can go booting.

Congratulations to those who've kondo'd jobs either temporarily or permanantly.

:p;) I'll be popping in and out of the forum during the next few days, hopefully they'll be something amusing to share.

The guinea pigs are settling in. Quite funny that they suit the DDs personalities. One is far more active than the other, full of beans and exploring the new setting whilst the other is the typical teenager and spending a lot of time in bed!

I emptied the tubs of the unit where the cage goes and the three of us have a tub each and the fourth houses the g. pigs stuff. I have put the stuff removed in a bag by my feet so that I can chip into it whilst watching TV.

We went to Ikea yesterday. We all love the place and could go there on a day trip like you would to the seaside!. We needed a few knick knacks, mirror etc for DD's room so took advantage of that offer where the price of your food bill comes off what you buy. Really impressed with the quality of the food. DD2 was miffed at the lack of veggies with her meatballs so nicked some broccoli off mine much to my amusement as most kids would nick your chips!

Weather poor her today but hoping to get on top of the chores and dd wants to finish painting her room.

WooHoo - our neighbour whose end of garden butts against the side of ours is replacing their fence! The previous owners had let it go and DH put up some willow fencing our side to disguise it - it's all looking extremely tatty now so quite excited that the garden will look a lot tidier. I'll be spending ding this morning clearing our side so more kondoing yipee!!

Paper recycling bin was emptied this morning, but is already half full of shredding and culled envelopes and newspapers.

Will be popping to mum's later to launch the second offensive on the summerhouse, but I want to clear through more here. I am determined to get rid of a melamine wardrobe that is wonky, but oh won't let it go. There is already my gentlemans wardrobe in the room, and mum has said we can have a satinwood one when we move. If I clear it out so nothing needs to be kept in there and then 'accidentally' help it lean some more it might make its way out! Not sure it's entirely in the kondo spirit, but I think it might be the only way.

Ooh you are so lucky the only thing holding the fence together for our neighbours is ivy and brambles....I long for the day when they decide it's time to replace them, we have offered to help!

:T Sometimes you have to go obliquely to get your way - go for it, we won't tell on ya.

The supermarketeering has been done, the car stayed outside and we walked, Mum with her 4 wheeler trolley and me with my racy r0lser 2 wheeler. Oh the deep deep joy of being a 50-somethng - one really doesn't give a four ecks what anyone thinks and just does whatever one wants to do.:rotfl:

I am about to go and Make Pies, which will involve using a few cans of the black cherry pie-filling cluttering up Mum's cupboards. I can make pastry but decided couldn't be arrised so have bought that roll & go stuff. So, I guess that counts as a form of kondo-ing, yes?

    Well I am on a roll !
    Left over veg into freezer.
HM soup made (chicken and leek).
New baskets on desk sorted and old one in CS bag.
Birthday book updated with details of presents in stash noted against intended recipient's name. Art supplies coralled into larger shoe box :D
Washing done and machine now having cleaning/service wash.
Brioche buns out of freezer for DH who wants burgers for tea.
Replacement filter for vac arrived and i've installed that.
DSIL txtd to confirm arrangements for meal out tomorrow night :D:D:beer:
AND, I have measured the model boat in glass case and measured the alcove. It will fit BUT it will overhang DH's COD and he will effectively lose some space on top. Hmmmm, still needs more thought.
Yes, yes, yes, GQ, who care?! Not us :rotfl:
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

We have reached a compromise on the Exped1t 4x4! It is now on the same wall as the sofa, but sideways, like a room divider, and the desk part is pointing towards the kitchen, which means that dds will have an almost separate play area, and dh has his empty wall for showing his films.

When we first got the cupboard, we also bought a few drawers and doors to go with it. For the last 3 years, these have lived in the attic, but I decided to get them out again. The 4 drawers now hold drawing materials, paper, crafts material, and colouring books. In the attic, I also found 3 drawer dividers, hmmmm, time to mull....

Last night I returned some of the wallpapering and painting items that we didn't use and got a refund, then I spent three hours just going through dds' stuff and returning it to the Exped1t. It's only half full now, quite a lot went into the bin, paper recycling, and ragbag. So many Barb1e clothes with loose seams and buttons missing, that I just can't be bothered to repair. Three large lidded plastic containers have been freed and are now in the garage awaiting further duty :)

There are still many items (books....) in dds' bedroom, but I'll just park those in the guestroom for now, and make dds' beds. We're going to our hometown tonight, will spend Easter there, and bring dds back with us on Monday. I've missed them!

Why not put the boat on top of the CoD? He can fully admire it then every time he goes to bed in the evening and wakes up in the morning (and it will keep him from storing stuff on top of the CoD, but there's no need to tell him that ;)).

yes  think outside the box MM. Find something that would look good in that alcove, for now, then remove dh`s bits from cod to somewhere he can access them, bedside table perhaps.Put boat on cod and then back away, when it needs dusting, give him a duster. Putting a seed of an idea into a man`s head is enough, he will soon decide that the boat will have to go and he will think it is his idea. :D Flowers in a vase in the alcove, maybe? nothing very permanent.A row of books with bookends? Let the bedside table look messy and full, it will eventually annoy him and bingo!! For the whole time, you are going to have to play it cool and calm
