KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

I agree, once you can manage to talk them, the individual employees are really helpful. And yes, the amounts are tuppence ha'penny
but my sticking point is the dratted Santander reinvestment scheme - I need to know, once and for all, in spite of the fact that all tax is already paid, how to list the shares bought for me under the share scheme I nominated. I think it's as simple as the nominal value they buy them at, but this time I'd really like to be sure of that
Argghh Santander and its Spanish Withholding Tax........ got so fed up of the messing about my accountant was doing each year, I got rid of them last year. I only had about 70 shares, the aggro was way more trouble than it was worth.Make £2025 in 2025

Managed to sort out the steam cleaner, filled it with water and cleaned the front door mat just to see if it was any good - WOW! The SC came with some terry cloths to use but I've found that my plush mopheads also fit it and are much better. My energy levels are not good at the moment (dont know why?) but I did try it on my kitchen tiles too and they look much better although that may be my imagination
I've tackled the mountain of bedding from the airing cupboard and I've got 16 Pillowcases, 4 double sheets,2 valances, 2 x king size quilt covers and a single sheet to go to the CS. I've kept 2 complete bed sets for our bed and a set for the doubles (already got sets on them) and a couple of extra sheets. Airing cupboard gives me great joy and a a couple of jobs to cross off the list :jSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Hmmm. One of those odd dilemmas.
I inherited one of those square beanbag foot rests filled with polystyrene beads and it's deflated over time. Not really using it as foot rest or spare seat.
Do I:
a) order some more beads at a cost of £6.50 to restore it to its former glory in the hope that I will use it?
b) find something else to stuff it with and then see if I start to use it: I have spare flat pillows that could do the job...
Dunno, what would you do?? I can make do and mend; would the rest of you have chucked/recycled it?‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

We have those beanbags and tended to refill them using packing peanuts (does the job adequately) - but they do get used here so it's worth it - for us. Our last refill of two of them was from a third beanbag being chucked by my mum - so we used the 'beans' and recycled the fabric (not to our taste

silvasava - how does the steamer work on the doormat? I can see that on hard surfaces it works like a mop, but dries better. On soft ones I can't see how it would pick up the dirt.0

That was exactly my thoughts Greenbee - the heavy brush attachment on mine can be covered with a cloth so the cloth picks up all the loosened grime. You have to give it a rub though! I was surprised at how quickly it dried too because the steam doesn't overwet the carpet. Not sure what it would be like on a wool carpet. I'm going to try it on my bedroom carpet though (wool) as its already been spoilt when I spilt red nail varnish all across it!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Clearly you have a more sophisticated model than I do - I don't have a heavy brush to loosen the grime, just the steam! But I did read up on it and it seems the microfibre picks up the dirt as you say. There's a 'glider' attachment that allows it to slide over the carpet, but it says it will just freshen the carpet - however, it has definitely reduced a muddy stain on the hall carpet, so who knows what will happen i I persevere. And at least if I do the rugs regularly it'll kill the germs!0

Wish I could Kondo some of the Phishing emails going around. Seems to be a bad time of year for them. I suppose with a lot of people having just submitted their tax returns the 'you are due a tax repayment, click here to claim' one is only to be expected.
Lots of people I know have had that one in the last couple of days (including me!). We were able to stop someone we know falling for it yesterday so am pleased about that. She had actually clicked on the link but fortunately because there was a different figure on the "claim form" from the covering email she hadn't filled in her bank details.
I was still a bit worried in case it had downloaded some keystroke logging software so suggested she did an antivirus scan. But she looked a bit like a rabbit in the headlights when I said that. Was I worrying her unnecessarily? I think she'll call her bank and ask them what she should do.It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0
