I have school for another week before our half term. looking around this morning I am wondering why as i have so much to tidy/sort.

For starters I have the printer i broke that needs to go the tip dumped on the floor, a pile of car boot stuff that 'Mr. i paidalot forthat' is sat on top of daring me to sell it. I need to just put it on eBay and get shut of but keep thinking i'll go to a table top and then realise it clashes with something else.

My to do list fills two pages of my A5 diary, granted some of these are two minute jobs but i have a relatively full week next week so don't want too many things looming.

One of my jobs is to sort some glasses and chocs for my netball team. I had done it and they were ready to seal but as i had not put the lamp on last night when DD2 decided to come for a cuddle and she sent them flying!

And then there is all the stuff for the craft fair which is likely to lurk till the end of November and as that goes it will be replaced by the Xmas tree!!

Have a restful and/or fruitful weekend.

Morning all. Still very busy here so not been posting however have been reading.

Siebrie, I hope your aunt's funeral goes as well as it can today.

Mavvy, things will pick up again for you soon. Can you return any of the emotional purchases? All the best for your friend's move and a raspberry :p to those who have taken advantage of your generous nature.

GQ, so sorry about your nan's wedding ring. My grandmother lost her teeth and wedding ring in a nursing home, OH's father lost three sets of clothing at a hospital and we couldn't even find the lost property man to report them missing even though we were assured he existed :rotfl: and when rellie was in hospital recently we were asked to take some clothes in for them although we had already done so! Two items reappeared the next day but the rest were never found.

Only a small amount of kondoing, just 5 items of paper shredded or recycled plus a dress to go to CS and an apron to OH's mum.

Have put my summer clothing into a box in the loft. I know we're not supposed to do this but I have so many lovely things and there isn't room for them all in the wardrobe so for the time being I will move seasonal things around until such time as numbers have reduced sufficiently for them all to stay year round.

Less things in the wardrobe means more things will be worn because I can see what is there. Anything which doesn't get worn will be let go. I still have to get over the "it's too good to wear every day" thing which isn't helped by the poor quality of new clothing.

On days when I've been feeling fatigued etc I have been tempted to buy more pretty things to help me feel better about myself however having just been reminded of how many clothes I do have (some of which have never been worn because they get hidden in the wardrobe), I managed to stop myself from buying anything. Had a close call this week with jumpers however there is no room for any more jumpers in the drawer.

I must admit that we always pack our out of season stuff away into the loft. DH and I share a 4ft wide built in wardrobe and I like to be able to see what's there rather than wade through stuff. I think it helps keep things looking nice too, I do iron so there's no point messing it all up in a cramped wardrobe. Whatever works best for you, I say.

I've kondoed some stale bagels into toasted yummies for lunch and am crocheting a scarf to use up some of my yarn stash.

I have been quiet for months as this year has involved a lot of other things but I've not stopped finding bits and bobs that don't bring joy and releasing them. I keep thinking that I can't understand where it all came from as I have donated several car loads in the last two years and my house is still full of things!

I've just taken a large carrier bag rammed full to my local charity shop and have a giant sack (one of those ones that comes through the letterbox) ready to go to a larger charity shop in town. I also want to unplug and load up the stereo that we no longer listen to.

I've just hung the washing out so I figured that if I posted to say that today I would go into town with it all, I have to go, right? Wish me luck!

Yesterday I finally got rid of 2 bags of stuff to the CS which had been building up for a while.

Today we visited a potential property to purchase but decided that we could potentially have problems with one of the 5 neighbouring properties. The place we were looking at is empty (probate) and one of the neighbours has taken the opportunity to put in a new fence. In the photos taken when the house was put up for sale, there's a 6ft panel fence. Now it's a 5ft fence with a 1ft trellis panel at the top. Which means the back of the property for sale feels quite overlooked. It's very obvious they've done this whilst the property is empty so there's nobody to object. Having dodged potential problems with a new neighbour by pulling out of our purchase earlier this week, I just kept looking at this fence and thinking what would we be getting into here? Plus it didn't really excite me, and we were under pressure to make a decision today as the executors were holding off accepting another offer whilst we looked at it. We never even bothered looking inside.

Also cancelled another viewing we had booked on a property we know is WAY overpriced but thought we'd look at as we were in the area.

Ho hum, we'll keep on looking but can't see anything happening until next year at the earliest. We're not in any hurry.

:A The washing has been out and is now back in the house to finish drying... and I've got a big space on the chest of drawers where the stereo used to be :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j

The stereo has gone to a charity shop, the big bag went to another charity shop and I've run my errands for the day!!!

I can't believe what a difference it makes in the room to not have a giant stereo sitting at the end of the bed. I am embarrassed to say how dusty it was tho - very Quentin Crisp!

Hope you are all having a good day :T

:) Hi guys, have had to sit down before I fell down, but we've had a productive day at Nan's bungalow.

Mum, Dad and I arrived at 9 am and Aunt was already there. Cousin (Aunt's estranged daughter) arrived at 10 am driving their land whale and we got busy.

The carpets had been lifted and skipped the day before and there was brown paper underneath them, which I rounded up for burning. But I couldn't start as a neighbour had their washing out. Just before midday, a shower came over and they took their washing in.

:D It was only a light shower but I was down that garden like a racehorse out of the starting gate, and quickly had a fire going.:D

Have burned all the brown paper underlay, four wormy wormy wooden chairs, a wooden stool, a basket, a mop, a broom, a coir doormat, several broken and worm-eaten tool handles, a mug tree, rolling pin, three wooden spoons and a wooden-handled knife and spud peeler, both so worn they are slated for metal recycling.

Tomorrow is the last day and most of the stuff is already done. I will rake out the ash and retrieve all bits of metal, large and small, and they will go into a tin. I will also fork over the ground to bring the ash underneath. This will stop any of it blowing around, as well as improve the tidiness of the place.

A neighbour has taken a car trailer-load of metal to the scrappie, a kind of thing they do regularly. Probably only be about £30 worth, but they're welcome to it.

We'll have a later start tomorrow as Cousin is coming but can't be there until mid-afternoon and we don't want to be kicking our heels there. She'll be land whaling away some large things like galv metal dustbins and the water butt. I shall titivate the garden a bit, and clean through the bungalow.

We got back mid-afternoon and sat having a cuppa and Dad and I independantly had the same brainwave; have a later start tomoz and then do a tip run here ( 9 am opening time) before going there. To that end, we've dismantled and loaded the knackered reclining armchair and loaded the pieces into their car, ready to roll.

We've got bags , boxes, more bags of Stuff every which way. The house is almost impassible atm. It's pretty bad normally, but it's bad dialled up to 11 now.:rotfl:

A carload will be heading chazzerwards on Monday and as much as possible will be heading back to the city with me on the coach tomorrow evening, then out to the chazzer after w*rk

I have sorted through a load of linen and accepted two towelling tea towels and a new flannel to join my household - an old teatowel which is nearly threadbare will immediately be demoted to an allotment shed rag.

I have also amused myself by dismantling a very badly homemade toy which you may remember I was laughing about; it appeared to be a dinosaur with a duck-billed playtpus face, wearing a stetson, carrying a shovel and a bucket (all the last three items were plastic).

It had felt hands, feet, head and tail and the rest was wrapped in layers of yarn. I dismantled in because it had to be the weirdest handicraft I had ever seen and I wanted to salvage the raw materials.

It had a soft wire armature skeleton (in metal recyc) wrapped with a fabric and then that wrapped with old tights (both in textile recyc), and then wrapped with layer after layer of yarn - cut off and will be rug yarn. Very little had to be binned and an abomination against Craft has been removed from the planet.

:p;) I feel good about that.

Glad you got so much done yesterday. It's the end of an era isn't it, but a blessing that you've been able to clear it so quickly. I've mentioned before my friend and her sister who are clearing their dad's house - it has been four months so far, it's wearing them out physically and emotionally and they are nowhere near done. I can't help feeling that if they had a deadline they would be a bit more decisive about things.

Hope today goes well for you GQ, and a good day for everyone o. Here whatever your plans. I'm going to be KMing some apples into a tarte tatin to accompany the pork belly that my friend is cooking for lunch, yum.

Hello all, just caught up on yesterday's posts from daily email. I took a few children's books from school (baby board books etc. A bit young for my crew) and some printing things to the chazzer plus a bag of stuff for a friend and got gift aid on that too. KMing scented candles and incense at the moment, in the fact I'm actually lighting them when I meditate my 15 minutes a day. Use it up, wear it ou! Today is special. Siebrie like Pooky I will also either move unseasonal clothes to either loft or to an under bed box. Sometimes I put them in those vacuum packs and suck out the air with the vacuum cleaner. MMF007 that's great advice. Yes this is going to a planned move. Initially I'm happy to reduce my hours. Four days (or 0.8) would be great, a day to do my planning, assessment, marking etc. And give me my weekends back:) More likely to get offered 0.4 or 0.6 but even then I could combine it with other work and would also create space to think about what I want to do next. Our mortgage is an interesting one. Second marriage for both with neither of us having our previous family homes means we're sort of like first time buyers and whilst many of our friends are celebrating 25/30 years of marriage and paying off mortgage we're rather different. My former marital home was repossessed and my ex rents and his ex remarried, paid off mortgage whilst we pay off family debts and has now taken early retirement :rotfl:You have to laugh!
Thanks GQ for the Hallowe'en still deconstruction of the crafted item from beyond! That bungalow is going to be so ready for its next phase thanks to all of your efforts. Proper closure :A
