GQ - I wish you'd write a blog - I just adore the way you write.
I persuaded DH that all the CDs could go this week, we compromised and kept the Christmas ones but we never, ever listen to the others (well pruned anyway) - £25 ish should be on its way this coming week from the place we sent them too - I was just about to revel in the free space they'd opened up in the bookcase when DD1 returned home with a large bag of books and DVDs from Uni - she's in her final year and wants to bring back a bag a visit to save big car loads later on.....when she left home her sister nabbed the bigger room so her small bedroom now has nowhere for stuff.....goodbye my space on the bookcase!!!!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Thanks for the compliment, Pooky. I really like writing but I don't consider I have an interesting enough life (or that the bits of it which can be shared without compromising my privacy and that of pals too much would be interesting enough) to run a blog.
Just been telling my Dad about my bonfire - it was he who taught me the Art of Burning Things Safely many moons ago - and we've had some peaceable father-daughter chats in Nan's back garden when supervising the latter stages of a bonfire as it dies down.
They're going over to my Nan's bungalow tomorrow; it's rented and will have to go back to their council for re-allocation within a few weeks of her passing. He will mow the lawn and tidy the garden and will start on sorting out the shed. Many items in there could have been sorted out long ago but he was only there one morning a week and was busy gardening.
I drew his attention to making good use of the scheduled refuse and recycling collection to get things out in the wheelie bins, rather than leave it all to the very end. There will have to be a skip for those things which are no good to anyone but there are things which cannot go into those, even. He's been checking it out.
There will eventually be a bonfire there, too, as there is a pile of burnables from the garden which has been accumulating over the year for their annual bonfire. It should still go ahead as we don't want to leave a muddle for the new tenants.Saying goodbye to that garden will be sad. My grandparents lived there all my life and there are pix of me as a toddler, trowel in hand, gardening away there. I can still recall my Grandad (he passed 17 years ago) teaching me some of my gardening skills on that patch of ground.

It was also the very first time I'd heard of a bonfire being called a bonnie. But I like it, so consider it stolen.
I have almost finished my first smoothie hat, just got to sew it up and pom-pom it. Very relaxing. An ideal little amount of knitting to take with me when I am out and about, such as over to the folks, or visiting friends.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Blimey, I've only been away a few hours and all sorts has happened! Pending grandparents, mini-hats for bottles (?!), a 10 foot bonnie (:T)...
GQ, you might be wise to explain the word 'chuffed' to Mila ! I love the word because it conveys such feeling. We use it in our family - is it a Northern word?
We took the last of the carboot Stuff to SIL. She'll be up before 5am tomorrow  to get to carboot in time to queue for a good space. I am dying to know how much she makes. She is really down on her luck atm. Is desperate to get a job after the shop she worked at ceased trading but despite some populist opinions that anyone on the dole is workshy, she is trying everything but to no avail. Sorry to temporarily go off-topic, I just feel so sorry for her, she's a lovely person and a real hardworker.
Tomorrow we have a very busy day planned but I will check in sometime.

Fingers crossed for SIL to have clear weather an a big crowd to buy ALL HER ITEMS.
I'm thinking chuffed is used the same way we used thrilled to death ...well that's not exactly the right. I know it means 'very pleased' (cause I looked it up) but do we have an equivalent??... tickled pink comes to mind...but that isn't right either. Hmmmm. Over the moon? Our's all seem to be phrases.

Over the moon and tickled pink often heard here too. A very northen rn phrase I believe is 'chuffed as little mint balls' - well I used to hear it a lot when I was a child living in the 'north':rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

TBH not many bloggers I have read have very interesting lives...........a lot of what I have come across is badly written inane drivel:eek: Thats not to say that there isn't some worthy stuff out there but you have to wade through so much rubbish to find the gems, and BTW your tales GQ are not boring! Quite the contrary. Its your style of writing GQ that would make the ordinary everyday stuff entertaining:rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi
