KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Good morning all.
Frogletina, that sounds a bit tricky, though you could specify in the ad that two persons are required, due to the flight of stairs. And that careful removal is required. Sounds like it will be a big relief (and bigger joy!) for you whichever way they go.
Looks like another nice day is coming up. Hope everyone can enjoy some sunshine.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
I love the idea of Justin being a gamblin' man. He has many guises. In my home, he's a skilled DIY-er who also does several textile crafts. A veritable polymath. :rotfl:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0

I think we have the same Justin, but ours also used to ski, play hockey, was a keen photographer and now makes his own beer & wine....2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

I'm trying to find the joke about Quetzalcoatl on the original (?) Kondo thread. I think it was one of GQ's.
I should have made a link to it as the mass of coats problem resonates with a fair few people I know.0 -
Morning all,
Congrats to all those with offspring who got results this past fortnight. Even if it's not what they expected or hoped for, the stress of waiting is done. I hope they all find what makes them happy.
Apparently it's shed kondoing at my folk's today. Its a very small shed so there won't be any surprise items, I think. Have a good day y'all."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Morning all
Loving your stories GQ :rotfl:Here Justin is a snooker playing man with a lovely snooker cue which comes complete with a metal case. Which hasnt seen the light of day for 20 years but may come in handy if DH ever starts playing snooker again
Sometimes if you are very unlucky the said snooker cue slides out of the gap between the wall and the wardrobe where it lives and hits you on the head :rotfl:just to remind you its still there not being used.

Well, you know how sometimes you wake up with a notion that seems to have percolated through your brain while it was doing its own thing overnight? This morning my brain relayed the overnight LBM (thank goodness the light didn't wake me :rotfl:!) and it related to my scarf stash.
Thanks to Mavvy I now have a decision about scarves! It will be a two-pronged attack.
1) store the bulky scarves used for winter warmth kondo-folded (I realised this works really well in the smallish drawers I have because rolling seems to bulk them up).
2) release the 'decorative' scarves so they can find a new home and look lovely on someone else. That someone will be better able to wear them elegantly and will probably, if you'll excuse me saying it, have a smaller bust than I do! I am just not built to carry off decorative neck adornments of this sort :rotfl:
So thanks Mavvy, you've helped me out with this Konundrum (did you see what I did there?).:beer:I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.0 -
Just spent twenty minutes tidying out my tiny shed, no surprises, apart from one of GQ's arachnid friends, approx 1 inch across, who I said hello to as it moved out of sight.
My garden doesn't have room for even a small grow house, and my windowsills aren't deep enough for seedling trays, so the ones which came with me when I downsized will be rehomed.
Also to be rehomed - the lovely parasol which is too big for this tiny garden, and a cat carrier. I'm down to one cat, and won't need a spare carrier, even if a cat called Justin came along...0 -
I went in the loft yesterday to put some charity flat packed boxes away, and whilst I was there, I konodo'd a big bag of plastic bags, no idea why I thought it was OK to store them there, especially as we are desperate for them since the 5p charge. I binned (in the recycling bin) some tissue paper, scrap ends of wrapping paper and torn gift bags. There's no need to have them, least of all keeping them in the loft.0

The coat thing certainly resonates with my mum ... she's been very slowly decluttering for a few years, since I first talked to her about it, but now she's in full-scale kondo mode about her coats. They're taking up space thats really needed now, as she needs someone staying with her much more often because of her failing health, and she said to me on the phone "I've got ten coats that need to be gone, your sister's already had her pick, when you're here in September, you choose what you want and then they're gone".
I know how it happened - elderly lady in a well off town that has 8 or charity shops (lot of rich people there, as well as a high proportion of pensioners) - she used to browse and just bought what she fancied, at charity shop prices it wasn't a problem, but she's stuffed her house really full. Which *is* a problem, now. Marie K to the rescue2023: the year I get to buy a car0
