:) I've finished a book (kondo'd into the donation bag) then took myself up to the lottie to fork through ground liberated from the meganormous spud crop last Sunday. Found half-a-dozen stray spudlets which will be eaten this evening and about a dozen nails and two bits of glass, which I have chucked into the bin. Good job I didn't get that the wrong way around, hey?

:o I have also been a wee bit proactive as I saw some very good stuff being offloaded from a car and about to go over the side of the tip and asked if I could have it to take to the charity shop? They were pleased for me to take it. Dunno if they thought I was stringing them a line and really wanted it for myself, but it's academic because I pedalled straight off to the chazzer and handed over 9 items in very good nick which nearly went for landfill. Feeling good about that.

Am now bathed, hairwashed, the gardening duds are sloshing in the washer and I'm about to turn one of the two mahoosive [STRIKE]marro[/STRIKE] err family-sized courgettes harvested from the plot into a recipe. Also using HG onions and harvested-by-moi from Liddly's shelves passata.

Cover me, ladies, I'm going in.

  • GQ - well done! less in landfill now matter how achieved is better than it going into the landfill!

So, food processor that was stuck in a box for more years than I care to think about is taken out and kitchen work surface re-organised, with the food processor out. Hopefully will use it a bit more than not use it. As the food processor has a chopper and blender on it. V old hand me down blender will be taken by my parents to give to their local church, who provides appliances, food etc for those in need in their local area. So nothing going in landfill. Card board boxes from garage & food processor all folded up and in the recycling bins.

More plastic boxes also in recycling bins and an old biscuit tin has been passed onto some relatives who came for lunch.

I now have an empty shelf in my kitchen and hoping to keep it that way after parents have left.

Clothes washed, dried before the rains came and now all folded away.

One unused compost bin given away via st**life (Gtree - full of time wasters), it took a few days but it has now gone...next up will be a bedside table that I have no idea how it turned up in my shed/garage and an old electric lawnmower that we don't use at all.

Slow and steady is the name of the game for me.

    Well done to everyone!

Dh and I are back from Paris! We had a wonderful time.... Packing took 15 minutes, drive in company car took four hours (dh had forgotten his wallet with id card and drivers licence, so we had to go back home after only 30 minutes and restart our journey). We bought brunch at the supermarket and picknicked in La Defense, then took a normal bus to Arc de Triomphe, walked to Trocadero/Eiffel tower, bought a snack at the local market (which we threw away after one bite - it was dripping with pork fat, yuk!), we bought tickets for the hop-on-hop-off boat, went to Notre Dame (laughed at the queue for the towers - at least one hour wait and €10 each; why would you do that?), walked around the Quartier Latin, Centre Pompidou, Les Halles, Paris Plage (with free concert of saxophone player - we tipped nicely), Louvre. Then went back home by normal bus and had dinner at a couscous restaurant, which was lovely, kind staff, nice filling fresh food. And that was only Saturday....
On Sunday we packed, visited a friend who treated us to a S.ubway brunch (she used to work there) and then browsed the shops in Chateau Rouge, the African quarter. DH was over the moon that he found some really fresh peanuts, and I bought some hair product for our dds. We don't need more souvenirs than that.
Now we are back home, unpacking took again 15 minutes. The whole weekend cost us €180, including travel and hotel. Not bad for a good time away.

We will all be waiting with bated breath for the tales from the homestead GQ. Just make sure you don't overtax yourself though x

  • Morning All

Birthday and get well wishes to all who need them. Many congratulations to Flutterby on the birth of baby Lenny:AHow are all the other movers getting on?

Three days until I move! Am I ready? :( The moving company are packing the bulk of my possessions but I'm not sure how much they expect me to do in advance. Youngest brother has just pointed out that I've spent a third of my life in the house I'm leaving so no wonder I'm confused!! :rotfl:

I kondo'd a lot of money last week on new white goods, probably will need more but waiting until I settle in to see what's actually needed. Also discovered that the new lounge furniture I ordered nearly two months ago needed to be manufactured once I had a completion date so will be sitting on garden chairs for a couple of weeks:( The paperwork was quite clear, though the friend who was with me is as surprised as I am!!:o

Fingers and toes crossed that the buyer's incompetent solicitors get their act together in good time on completion/moving day - I'm still furious about the unnecessary delays they caused:mad::mad:Luckily my own solicitor is lovely and handling the sale and purchase - she's aware of how useless the other firm have been.

    Onwards and upwards!!

    Sweetpea xx

    Morning all
    Hope everyone is well.
Flutterby congrats on arrival of baby Lenny
Sweetpea hope house move goes smoothly
GQ looking forward to the bank holiday instalment of tales from the homestead
Hugs to all who need them

Head is now feeling a little better stitches come out on Friday
I know I shouldn't be buying storage but hubby bought it for me, wilkos have massive sale on storage boxes, so he bought enough to go under ds2s bed, in bottom of our wardrobe once it's redone and some for all my craft stuff in cupboard of doom to finally be organised and tidied properly so I don't have to pull it all out to look for one thing.
We also bought a new loft ladder as old one creaked alarmingly and given my recent injury record Dh wasn't prepared to risk it any longer, we had a 'no one allowed in attic unless someone else in the house' rule, since neighbour's Ladder collapsed under her and she badly damaged her back and spent a couple of weeks in hospital (thankfully she's recovered now) Old ladder out for metal collecting person.
Skip should go sometime this week.
That's today's plan pulling it all out organising like with like and boxing it up nice and tidy.

Went to see ds1 singing at local pub Friday night which was good and got all the kids together yesterday so ds3 could give her sisters "will you be my bridesmaid?" Cards, good weekend even with cracking headache

Have a joyful day all I'm off to tidy cupboard.

Just drying off after putting my slow cooker and food processor out in the rain.

No, I haven't gone potty, but they are both damaged and don't work properly but I was hanging onto them despite having the replacements right next to them ...... I won't list the excuses I was making to myself but I'm sure you can imagine them.

DH will take them to the recycling centre on Thursday, along with the bag of empty tetra-packs and anything else that pops up.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Two small but packed drawers in a piece of antique furniture kondo'd, yielding mucho excess pens and pencils which I'll rehome to work; stamps which are now in another drawer elsewhere; emery boards ditto; scissors ditto. In other words, mainly a redistribution, but it's all part of the process.

Also leaving the house are kitchen weighing scales and weights, going to the CS, and a new recipe book, a duplicate Christmas gift, which I'll drop off to the library. The staff are always grateful for new or slightly used books to add to their stock.

If it was dry I'd tackle my tiny garden shed, but it's wet, so instead I think it's time to choose a book for a leisurely afternoon's read, to then be kondo'd, GQ style. Thanks for the inspiration, GQ!
