:) I'm fine, my lovelies, just busy with work and not having any kondo-ing to report. I am reading along in the background and cheering your hard work, tho.

maddiemay, that sounds scary, new one on me. It's amazing how many things can go wrong with a human bean, isn't it? Hope you soon feel better and that the treatment isn't too much of a pita to administer.

I have been kondoing me, and have misplaced 23 lb in 14 weeks and subtracted 2.5 inches off my hips. Still plenty of wobble left but I am very pleased with progress. Am about one-third of the way to my target weight.

I am delighted to be able to add (or should that be subtract) my info to the kondo weight loss....
I have lost a stone :j :D I hoped to reach that before our week away and I am 6 days ahead of target, so may manage another pound or two by then?!
DH has taste-tested the ginger buttercream for the cake for fil and says it is very good.

My friend offered to take me to lunch next week as thanks for some help I gave (obvs not necessary to do this but a lovely gesture), I have requested that she comes to me and I can do a low carb lunch for us and have a treat sugar fee jelly and whipped cream - takes me back to kids' parties:) While one can eat out on low carb it is nigh on impossible to eat at a Chinese restaurant, which was her offer (if not sugar in lots of sauces, there's thickener in them), so I would be more relaxed having a lovely natter at home, hopefully sitting in my pretty garden as the roses are already out!

Glad to hear the weight stayed off VJsMum, you must have done it right in the first place, just like MK magic, if we do it right it stays with us!

Maddiemay - I am sure you will be fine administering the treatment and it will be so much better than making a humungous round trip to hosp. Can the District Nurse not visit to oversee your first go? After all you will be swving the NHS a packet if you do this yourself every time. Best wishes and well done with your determination to find a way through.
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

One frog job done - a froglet really. One small carrier bag which has been lurking in the boot for a week or two now gone to CS :) For no reason in particular I am going to revisit clothes this weekend.

OH is off on one of his extreme sports jaunts next weekend for a week, hasnt thought about packing and will no doubt be doing it at the last minute........I would like the bedroom free of clutter so he can get at his clothes which mainly consists of T shirts ( guessing 40/50 in total) and clothing to go with his extreme sport and a few reluctant items for 'work' Currently the bedroom looks like an explosion in a laundry and really needs sorting............oh there was a reason after all to revisit:rotfl::rotfl:

:) It's very gratifying and is an average loss of 1.6 lb per week. The brilliant thing about low carbing on a paleo plan is that you eat really well, lots of non-starchy vegetables, fish, meat, eggs and tasty things like olive oil and butter. I'm even eating several 100g bars of Lindt 85% cocoa a week, too. Oh, the hardship, the hardship........... :rotfl:

I'm intending this dietary change to be permanant and that once I have reached a sensible weight (i.e lost the spare tyres, the bulgy tummy and various other wobbly bits) I will be back to the lean and rangy build I had as a young adult and which I feel is my genetic heritage.

It's so much fun having to hitch up my trousers because they're starting to hang off my hips instead of them leaving a welt around my middle. I shall spend a little time re-visiting the wardrobe and see if the next size down are fitting me yet, or if it will be a few more weeks.

:j Gonna be fun stepping onto the scales at the hospital clinic in mid-November for my annual weigh-in. Glad to hear that you've kept the weight off, too, it bodes well.

Have been treating my flat a bit like a crash pad in recent weeks and I need to spend some time at home sorting stuff out, catching up on various chores and little tasks and getting squared away for the week to come. I have decided that the allotment can mind its business tomorrow and that I will have a pottering-about day at home and really get myself caught up. Am actually looking forward to it.

Gotta fly as a baked sweet potato is now baked and needs to be slathered in butter and eaten with some sardines and salad. It's tough, this dieting business, but someone's gotta do it.

:) It's called the Primal Blueprint by Mark Sissons, widely available inc most probably in your library. Or you can refer to his very comprehensive blog https://www.marksdailyapple.com.

It's pretty easy - ditch the grains, the sugar the marg, the vegetable oils, the processed foods and reach for the good natural stuff like veggies, meat, fish, unprocessed nuts and seeds and olive oil. And butter. And lard.

It takes a few days to switch your body to burning its own fat stores for energy (1 lb of saturated fat on a human bean is reckoned to represent a whopping stored 3,700 calories of energy). Once you've switched, as long as you keep your carbs low, you lose weight slowly and gently.

Of course, a sarnie or a big helping of anything else carby will stall the process for a day or two.:rotfl:

Anyway, check it out if you like, there's a lot of info about this style of eating, usually called paleo, in books and online.

I bought my copy of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying from Amazon quite a while ago but I've just noticed that the Book People are offering it for £5.99. Even if you didn't buy anything else and therefore paid the £2.95 for standard delivery it is cheaper from them.

(Borrowing from your local library is even cheaper - if you can.)

It sounds like the Atkins diet that I'm doing, protein, green veg, salads, butter, egg, cream, mayo. I can't eat sweet potatoes atm. I am very carb-sensitive, for example while on a weekend away I ate these cheats, in total, not every day - 2 crispbreads and 2 (yes, just 2) strawberries and I lost no weight for a week! If I stick to the induction foods as above, I lose easily and, cliched though it is, I never feel hungry, even when working 6 hours straight pressure washing. I have lost a stone in 6 weeks (although as I say, I stuck for one week). It drops off in the first week then steadies to about 2lbs a week. If I need a snack, which is rare, I have a big treat - 6 or 7 roasted macadamia nuts. They are high fat and do the trick.

Right, MK magic: I love that it makes you think laterally!!

I wanted to whip some cream (see above), and needed to store it in the fridge BUT it's a small fridge with lots of fresh food in it. No round bowl would fit in the space left. The beaker in which I whip it is too tall for the fridge shelves. LBM - I have some 500ml Kilner jars that DO fit under fridge shelves. Whipped ceam, spooned it into kilner jar (retrieved from orderly cupboard in the logical spot where I'd put them several months ago), exact volume :D, perfect fit. A small triumph but it feels good! :T

MMF, you really don't need to worry about the occasional carb laden meal, once your body is used to burning fat you only need to be 'good' 80% of the time and you'll maintain your weight loss.

I had loads of carbs whilst away on holiday, put on on 6 lbs in 10 days, went back to my low carbs way of eating on return and it's gone again in less than two weeks.

I love low carb, not only have I lost weight, it's the inches I've lost off my stomach that are really noticeable. I went from 10 stone 7 to 9 stone 4, but must have lost about 5 inches off my waist. Never thought I'd wear size 10 lower half of my body.

OH has lost a similar amount and is maintaining it two years since we started.
