    Morning all :D

Wet wild and windy here today really blowing a gale :( The caravans which fill our area from Easter - Oct are already leaving early on there journey home:(

We are doing a hot cross bun event this morning to raise funds for our village hall so we are running the bric a brac so must make sure NOT to buy anything :D

I painted all the walls yesterday with 2 coats took all day but its looking (the same) :rotfl:But cleaner and fresher. DH is putting our joyful pictures back on the wall as we are talking pictures.
I agree with the framing I am very lucky as my friend has a framers and he is brilliant. I just take them in and he does what he thinks and they always look fantastic and he only charges me £25 each for what ever I have to cover costs:D

  • The discussion about pictures is really interesting and it's made me realise that I haven't really applied the 'spark joy' principle to pictures. I love family photos and have several collages, but there are a couple of wedding/graduation photos that don't really seem relevant now the subjects are older, and have families etc. I think they might retire. Most of my pictures are ones I've bought myself over the years, I usually buy prints and get the framers to help me choose mounts/frames. Your friend is generous, Mavvy - professional framing costs a heck of a lot! They really spark joy however, several were bought on trips to Southwold and are beach scenes.

I do need to think a bit more about where stuff is hung - most of it was just put up on the hooks left by the previous occupants of this house. Task for the day ...

So long since I have posted and I have done so little. I really do think 'piles of stuff' and 'clutter' really do impact your mood. My research stems from the fact that after the last lot of eBay and stuff for the tip had gone my mood was on the up, the house remained tidy etc. During my last cull I started a new pile but never quite put it on eBay and the house and motivation have waned. However, it is now on and i am hopeful by this time next week it will be gone!

However on a more positive angle I am more aware of things I bring into the house. I do need some new things but not having the ready cash is helping me evaluate of whether they are a necessary and looking for ones i know with be with me through the long haul. For example I need new plates [lost some and others chipped] , storage for tea etc but my design is extinct so is this the time for a revamp. I like things looking nice so know this move will lift my spirits but finding the right ones is a task in itself!

The weather has *got* me - part of the hips of my roof blew off overnight, they're lying at the front of the house ... mention was made up the page about not having stuff in the loft in case the roof blows off :):):) hurray, there's nothing in my loft except insulation :):):)

Am getting details of my insurer, and slowly moving things away from the area underneath, in case there's a rainy bit as well as a blowy bit, and the rain starts coming through.

    Fences are problematic too ...

Great new story from The Minimalists... how decluttering can lead to what I shall refer to as more... marital harmony :rotfl:

    Lol, I saw that one.:D

I've been a bit random, not good kondoing but I've been going through the instruction leaflets, people were talking about it a few days ago - some aren't online any more, some are, and I've started to download what I can.

I'm going to go through the instruction leaflets today too. I saw them in a poly pocket the other day, but I didn't actually weed through them. I'm sure there will be some in there from a toaster I had back in 1998.:rotfl:

 Blimey, that sounds serious. Err, I'm probably the only one here who doesn't know what hips mean in the context of roofs? Pls explain.

Weather's vile here today, blowing a hooley all night and still blowing, driving heavy rain. Nothing more serious than twigs down here, although there is a plantation of trees (council land) at the bottom of the gardens here and they've been whipping around a bit. They're tall enough to hit the house if they were blown this way.

Have been doing a bit more sorting of papery stuff and have gone through another tub from the parental home. A part completed diary from 1979 (did you know the last of the Marx brothers and Joce Grenfell died on the same day in 1979?), plus a magazine from 1993 and various other bits, mostly useless, like a dead calculator and a dead currency convertor doo-dad.

I've acquired a carrier bagful of scrap paper, mainly old envelopes which cards were handed over in. A cache of Mum's 65th birthday cards were hiffed out, as were valentines from my Dad. The big hopper on their shredder has been filled twice and the recyc bin is over half full with one week left to go before collection.

I'm slightly disappointed that I haven't been able to achieve more in terms of reducing the volume of Stuff at the foot of the parental bed. There are two low c-of-d down there, a storage stool, a very large lidded plastic crate, and several smaller things parked on top of those, including overflow of clothing etc.

A huge amount of papery stuff has been processed, freeing up the crate with the broken corner, which is now in the porch acquiring a cargo of bits for the tip run which will probably take place on Tues. The other crate from that end of the stack is in the loft with the SABLE amount of Xmas cards in it. There's still plenty of kipple and stuff on all surfaces in there, but I need Mum to make decisions because, as I've explained before, it's not obvious trash.

Mum has a lot of Stuff but its not things like old pizza boxes and cola bottles like some hoarders hang on to.

Righty, going to investigate that crate and that storage stool and see what's in there.

I did feel a slight pang about the Valentine's.

I am reading and loving the posts but not quite taking much action myself.

I had a couple of hours spare yesterday afternoon so decided to empty my kitchen cupboards and wash the shelves. I finished KM ing this area last year and they were still tidy so easy to do. No dishes thrown out but have added a new sugar and cream to my to buy list ( still haven't found ones that spark joy). My fridge had 1 item out of date so mayo thrown out. I only use it to make rice crispi chicken. Then a jar of cinnamon sticks got added to a pot pouri as they had crumbled a bit and were out of date. So easy to clean and retidy a KM kitchen. I put all items that are the same together in plastic tubs that sit on the shelves and now have labelled the shelves. :rotfl:
