Satinwood paint the debate rages on :rotfl:

DawnW I reckon yours is still good as it would have been oil based when you had yours done now its waterbased which is the one everyones having the problems with.:(Mine was done by a professional but I did get the paint for him :o He did say this stuff is drying so quick its hard to work with.
If you can get the oil based its still fine its just a lot harder to get now.
I am using oil based egg shell and its going on really well I am pleased to say:D

Charis what a pain for you why is it always after the event people say yes I had the same problem.

Polly yes that sounds like the paint for certain .The problem is when you start to rub it down to repaint its such a nightmare.

Anyway I am going to do the 3rd thin coat on the windowsills today and the 2nd coat on the rads as I want to make sure this bl**dy stuff is covered once and for all ;)

Have a lovely day what ever you are doing :D

Satinwood/silk finish paint : we use both and dont have a problem although I have noticed as a previous poster has in an area of 'traffic' the paint has worn a little - but it must have been done more than 5 years ago :rotfl: last room to be decorated was DDs just before Christmas.........we discovered the pain of trying to cover an oil based paint with modern non oil based paint.........you cant.........lots of prep needed :(

Got up this morning and just walked past a print on the wall on landing, unhooked it and put it in the CS bag.........all in one motion. No hesitation. No thinking about it. Cant understand why I havent 'seen' it before!

The porch beckons.....weather fine at the moment so I might set to now :)

I actually use bottle stoppers, living on my tod I rarely finish a bottle of wine, so I keep it for a little drinkie later in the week/for cooking with.
Me too, Polly! In fact, I don't really drink any more, so I don't *use* them per se, but I still have them because they'll definitely be needed :rotfl:

Thats what I do! I did it last night, to two books - both bought in the 1990s, on crop circles - I've leafed through them, but never read them, and they've come with me through two house moves! No more.

    Ok here goes.......

. As it says Above I'm giving myself 4 weeks for Kondo round 2.

Finished moving dads stuff yesterday, just got to sort it out into categories and then take to the recycling centre during the week.

I now have a New bed base with drawers so made a start on those, sorted out Christmas decs and wrapping paper etc.

    So today's Haul.

Two bin liners of rags for Chazza
    1 box Christmas decorations
5 fiat cushion pads and two pillows for recycling

All bagged up ready to go.

Going to try and Manage a couple of hours a day and load it All into the car As I go. Probably do a CS and tip run on Friday when I will have DS 2 to supply the muscles. :rotfl:

DH at his mum's, so I have reduced the stash of drinking glasses and set aside a box to take to CS tomorrow.

Put paint back in cupboard and hauled out 2 part-used tins from Gawd-knows-when to go to recycling centre tomorrow. They are terracotta and an apricot satinwod. I am never really bang on trend but even I know those are so last season, Darling!

Made some greetings cards to say 'thank you and goodbye' to several lovely colleagues when my 30 year stint comes to an end in 2 weeks time. I have bought a few little gifts to take in for my friends and the rest will have to put up with some shop-bought confections because I don't care enough about them (that's being polite!) to be bothered to bake!!!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.

    Afternoon all
He everyone is having a great day.

Had all the kids round at some point, all gifts are useable, eatable or floral with the exception of a rather joyful photo of DGS with me and Dh so I'm very happy. Dd2 cooked lunch for us all and we popped round mils with her gifts.
Was given a rather joy inducing save the day card from dd3 and her fiance, so something to look forward to there.

Porch done :) Had to persuade DD2 to part with some bags/rucksacks..............really just too many. She also went through some bags ( cloth type) and found no end of things she had 'been looking for for ages !' Also managed to persuade her to part with a rucksack that was beyond useful really. Shoes will have to be another day.............:o Asked OH what he wanted to do with an old pair of slippers........I should have just binned them - so holey they should wings and a halo..........he said 'oh I've been looking for them for ages'. Well they haven't been hiding. They have been in plain view on top of shoe cupboard............give me strength. Some minor bits and pieces just dumped in porch have been binned/recycled/put away in rightful place/put in CS bag.

On the subject of 'creatures in the attic'.............our porch has always attracted the local wildlife....... old, stone built with lots of nooks and crannies so we get various small mammals frogs and toads that have to be rescued. OH asked how the porch was looking as he did some work on it last summer to improve insulation and a bit of damp that was getting in. By the look of the dried out frog I found behind the shoe cupboard I guess we can say the damp is cured  Good job we are not squeamish:rotfl: Mind you I would not have liked to have found it one of my shoes...... we have found small creatures sheltering in them in the past:rotfl:

:) I've quite fancied the idea of an old cottage in theory, but stories like that make me glad that I have a sleek concrete cubicle.

Been to lottie this morning and did some wheelbarrowing of spent barley grains from the communal pile where the local brew-pub leaves them. All organic. We put a barrowful per meter square, let it cool off for a week before forking it in, the worms love it and the plants grow gangbusters.

Was up and out by 9.30 am, put jollop down the loo and cleaned the basin before I went out, as well as doing the dishes (I used the kitchen for those, I hasten to add :p). It's amazing how EASY life is when uncluttered.

Now it's all sleety and 'orrible, I'm spending some quality time with my WIP - handknitted blanket - just started the assembly of it. Once it's finished, I shall photo it and then donate it and start the next one. Got to get cracking as the sections are mounting up. I'm on the 62nd section, each having three squares and that equates to a bin-bag full by volume.

Keep finding fabric while I'm packing up. I need to be able to keep it all in one place... Although what I really need to do is get some of it made up. Realistically I'm not going to have time to make blinds myself, so I should make some calls and get a couple of people round to quote. And use the small bits to make lavender bags or bunting on something.

Love reading all your tales ladies!

I'm back as I've now finished the book and am ready to get cracking. Can I just ask a couple of questions of you experts? I'm going to be tackling my undies drawer, old socks I'll be putting in a rag bag but can I also put old (clean!) knickers in there too? I don't want to throw them away but I don't want to gross someone out :rotfl:

Also, I have a dilemma about which charity to donate to. It sounds like a lousy excuse but I think this has been a bit of a thing for me previously and perhaps why I haven't got rid of a lot of stuff over the years. How do you choose? We have a few shops in my town and I'd really like to donate to one which funds our local hospice but they really overprice their stock which I don't agree with. I've got some decent clothes to get rid of and there will also be jewellery at some point (not expensive stuff though) and I really want to make the right decision. Am I overthinking things?! Just want the joy to go to the right place :D

Had the parents round for lunch today so there was a bit of last minute chucking things in the spare room which wasn't ideal, need to get on with it all now. Poor dad had to deal with a blockage in my bathroom sink u-bend, rather bad timing for him that it stopped draining this morning! This did expose a small negative side of too much clearing out as I was rather short on towels to mop the spills, never mind all sorted now.

    Thanks all
