CC application: existing customer but not on electoral roll?

Options
if a customer of a bank, with Current Account and Savings account, but who is not on the electoral roll at their current address, applies for a Credit Card, what is the likelihood of a successful application, and a good limit?

Any advice anyone gives you to this question will be a total guess.

We've no idea how long you've had the accounts, how well you've managed them, what other cards/loans you have, how much debt you are currently in, how much credit you currently have available, how much you earn etc etc.

Even if we did have all of the salient information, only the bank knows what its criteria are, so it would still be guesswork.

What does the eligibility checker say? Does your bank do a soft search application you can try?

all fair, but if i try to break down for you: do people here think that not being on the electoral roll will still be a problem for an existing customer of the card provider?

It can cause issues when you try to open a new bank account or apply for a new credit card account, I'm taking from experience ... it's better to be on the electoral roll ... otherwise very likely you would be required to send in documents with each application to prove your identity + address ... and the electoral roll usually 'saves' you all these hassles (assuming the rest of your details are all up to date, correct, etc.)
  • Not being on the electoral roll reduces your chances of being accepted for a credit card. But none of us can say whether your application is likely to be successful because the electoral roll is just one of many criteria that are considered.

Try clicking on the link below and putting your details into the eligibility checker. This will give you a better idea of whether you are likely to be accepted

i've never been applying for a credit card before being on the electoral roll, sorry..
i don't really want to wait to make 1/2/3 new applications.. but all 3 options i have in mind are organisations with whom i already have accounts, so, they 'know me'.
    we'll see.

Do they offer a soft check? That may be helpful.

Otherwise I think you'll just need to take the plunge. Even if you get declined you won't really be any worse off, providers you don't have any accounts with are likely to decline you anyway.

I like that phrase! sums up credit applications. You never know if you are going to reach the bottom or what you will find, just have to jump and be surprised. Haha.

Try applying In-branch, via phone or whilst logged on to online banking, basically any platform that you can link your application to the account you already hold with the bank. They can give you a better reply or help with appeals if you have a long history with them and do not succeed with the application.
