Any tips for a chapped nose?

Have had a cold for almost a month now and the underneath of my nose is so sore and looks bright red.
I've been slapping Vaseline on the area to try to at least keep it protected from almost constant nose blowing and trying not to rub tissues when I use them but I'm not sure I'm actually stopping it getting worse let alone helping it recover.
I can't use much because so many things sting and makes things worse, Vaseline seems to be the only thing that doesn't. Has anyone got any helpful tips I can try?
So far I've tried Carmex, Blistex, calamine lotion, Aloe gel and they all stung and made my eyes water. I've tried oils but they just make my skin feel drier and uncomfortable and don't do anything to help.

What you are using is drying your nose out more. Carmex, Blistex, calamine lotion, the last it for drying out spots. They are barriers and can make the skin dryer.
You need moisture and apply loads of times a day. I bought a small pot of candenlua (sp) cream in a chemist ages ago, we are talking about 10mls. When I get a cold every time I blow apply. Some sort of rich cream will do.0 -
Are you using balm tissues for your cold? If not, give them a go (decent ones not cheap ones) - I find that makes a big difference. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
As per the above, you need rich moisturising creams, preferably not perfumed so that it doesn't just irritate more. Top it up lightly during the day and pile quite a bit on overnight when you go to bed.0

Another vote for balm tissues - I like Kleenex menthol balm as they clear your nose too

A nipple cream will work wonders for your sore nose. Lansinoh is fab but it is very expensive, although a little goes a long way and a tube will last for ages, it's also very good for chapped lips.
I believe that most pharmacies/supermarkets do their own brand of nipple creams. Have a look in the baby aisles.
I can also recommend Lidl balm tissues, I got through two boxes recently, and my nose didn't suffer too much!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
I find germolene works wonders on a sore nose. It stings for a moment when you first put it on, but then it goes numb which is total bliss. When needed I use it just before bed, and usually notice a big improvement by morning.Shrinking my mortgage!

Get a job guiding Santa's sleigh? How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -

Another vote for Kleenex Balsam tissues. I discovered them years ago, when I had a red and very sore nose. I was amazed to find that my nose improved within a day. The soreness was gone and it didn't hurt to wipe my nose anymore. They really are worth every penny.
I agree with the comments about applying a moisturiser before going to bed. I would try E45 cream or nivea.

Try and find something vegetable-based rather than petrolatum/mineral based, as the latter can dry the skin out even more.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense
