Healthy life expectancy is different though. Critical illness insurance for a female will be higher over the years than for a man.

Surely the reason is removing the dangers of childbirth and associated complications from the equation.[/QUOTE]

I did say my tongue was in my cheek & yes I did realise that it was the avoidance of the dangers of childbirth etc.

That seems unlikely. Some studies have found that women have a higher life expectancy even when societal/environmental factors are adjusted for, possibly because their smaller bodies make them more resistant to disease. And even when you remove work from the equation, men will still smoke more, drink more, drive worse, get in fights, commit suicide more often, work in more dangerous occupations, etc.

Actually, there are now some areas in the UK where men outlive women, incl some areas of Warwickshire.

It is also the area that has the highest usage of Viagra. Studies dont show if these two factors are linked ;)

Well WASPI has just removed their Facebook "ask" of wanting all 1950s women to be put back in same financial position as if born before 1950.

No new "ask", no covering statement - just hoping that deleting it from Facebook will remove it from all evidence.

Must have forgotten that Anne Keen ( co founder ) is splashed across various transcripts and podcasts saying exactly that.

Really bad move to just delete it without a covering statement to say that they have changed their aim.

Yes, almost as bad as not mentioning it at all in their petition.

I wouldn't have known about their 'ask' at all if I'd not read about it on here.

What is unfair is that the government can arbitrarily modify retirement age with out allowing some sort of grace period so it doesn't have an immediate effect on those facing imminent retirement

What is fair is that women retire at same age as men - after all they only work half as hard :o) so they might as well
When will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?

Wonder if we'll get any MPs who have the guts to bring this up in the next debate, or whether we'll just the same fawning over them as in the previous one?

The current demands bear little resemblance to those which the petition called for, time to recognise that. The current Facebook page (in all fairness, it could change by lunchtime) calls for help only for women IN their fifties, casting off, at a stroke, the potentially most vulnerable who were born in THE fifties. All in all, a shambles.

Why not add something to the "Inform the debate" thread?
