I'm on the Mid package, my line attenuation is 45db and I get a reliable 8191kbps sync with the exchange. The only problem I had was 18 months ago when I changed from Orange. BT plugged me into a duff port on the DSLAM and it took 3 months to get it fixed.

  • I moved from Orange £17.99 per month to Sky at £5 per month as part of Skys TV, phone and broadband package, I reckon I am saving about £20 per month and have had no issues with the broadband service at all....

place I used to work for had a similar problem with BT, duff port in their exchange, it took 6 weeks, numerous phone calls to India, 3 visits from an engineer to our site and finally they admitted it was their equipment..............of course in the middle of the 6 weeks was the Inland Revenue payroll year end and we were one of the companies obliged to file online lol!! ever tried submitting an online return to them by dial up lol!!

Sky will have a monthly download limit, you should check if that will be a problem for you.

But these limits have not been enforced. Also, Sky BB Max is totally unlimited
  • We are just leaving Sky as we have had a miserable time with them - poor connection, slowwwww, unreliable (we work from home at times and often couldn't connect to server) we live on Surrey/Sussex/Hants border. best acheived connection was 3.2!

Someone corrected me on the forum saying that you can keep your AOL email address, this would have to be via webmail though.
Sky use a version of Google Mail.
Best way of finding distance to your exchange is on Samknows, look for the mapping tool.

  • Hi

I live in Bangor and have had Sky BB for about 6 months. I have absolutely no complaints. I was with Tiscali for about 2 years and was driven to distraction with problems which were made worse by having to call Indian based call centres with staff working from (and refusing to deviate from) scripts. I would recommend Sky.

Thanks, I have ADSL at 4.5 mbps and ADSL2 at 5 mbps. What does this mean and how would affect a move to Sky BB?

Also regarding the AOL email address can I still access it/use it if I cancel AOL and move to Sky.

    Thanks.
