My current broadband contract is almost up, and now that Sky are in my area, I was planning to change over and save some money.
Does anyone have sky and if so how do they find it so far? Ie how is the connection/speed/customer service?
Current provider is Tiscali and have no complaints at all but paying £18 per month plus weekend tel calls and I could get this much cheaper with Sky.

My daughter and SIL have Sky BB - they are planning to ditch it as soon as their contract is up. It's very slow, customer services won't help (they keep saying it's up to 8 meg!) although I suppose your speed would depend on how near you are to the exchange.
I'mm with Virgin (ntl as was) and happy with it! Could you try them for a deal?:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j
:heart2: RIP Clio 1.9.93 - 7.4.10 :heart2:I WILL be tidy, I WILL be tidy!

I was with NTL in my last house but unfortunately there is no NTL service where i live now - pity as I think I was the only NTL customer in the country that thought their service was pretty good! They are always prepared to give you a good deal and I used to ring them every 3 months to get another half price deal. I will pretend to Sky that I can could always move to NTL and let them think I am doing them a favour signing up with them:rotfl:0 -
This is my first ever broadband (always had dial up) and I am with Sky and must admit I'm pleased with it. I have the most basic deal, which I think is 2meg and it's really fast....but as Sagaris said, it depends how near to the exchange you are. I suppose I must be near. I had a Freesat card and got a letter asking if I would like Sky phone, broadband and 2 TV packages for £7.50 mth. Even though I still have to pay for my BT line, it was an offer I couldn't refuse.I haven't had any problems yet.0

Hi
As a Sky Subscriber already I'm thinking of moving my Broadband from Plusnet to Sky to save £120 annually.
Can any Sky Broadband Subscribers in the Bangor area let me know their opinions please on the service/speed/customer service etc?
Thanks

My friend lives Ballycrochan area of Bangor. He just changed from Tiscali to Sky, much better service and no complaints so far.0

Is it 'possible' to get better service/speed when you change ISP (assuming you stay on your same telephone line)?
OK, customer service might be different, but surely the connection is along the exact same lines to the exchange?
I'm also considering moving from Plusnet to Sky, but am assuming the speed of the service should be the same. Am I right.....?

sky run their own equipment so yes you can get a speed increase.
sky in south belfast big thumbs up. currently getting just over 14mbps.
Their higher level tech support is based in Belfast too!!0 -
Been with Sky BB for nearly a year now in the Bangor west area and have no complaints at all. In fact I've changed a few friends / relatives over to them. Customer service, speed, connection are all fine. Only downsides are having to use their own wireless router due to firmware etc... I've found the Netgear nowhere near as effective as my previous router but that said still getting 24 - 48 Mbps over wireless and approx. 3 - 6 meg connection0

I'm happy enough with Sky. Not a massive internet user, as at work all day (!) but the basic package is fine for home browsing of the internet. So far so good.Norn Iron Member 3830

I'm out in the sticks 5KM from my small exchange so I can't get any of Skys good deals, and am stuck on Skys £17 "Connect" package.
Connection is good most of the time and anytime I have to phone them I get the call quickly escalated to Tier 3 (based in Belfast). I would recommend them if you can get onto one of their budget packages and not the Connect one, as I don't think it's good value.
If I had a choice (I'm 0.5 KM too far out from exchange  ) I'd go with o2.0
