Stock market/sector investing product - advice needed

Hi,

I have been studying the stock markets for some time, and have come up with a computerised system that can be used to time entries and exits in major markets and sectors.

While not perfect, I have used it to avoid the 2008 crash completely and make +15%. Buy/hold lost 40% during this period - and more in foreign markets.

I have used it in other markets as well - for example, getting out of Oil stocks in Oct 2014, before the big oil crash.

The product is ideal for SIPP investors, ISA investors and mid-term traders who don't want to watch the market every day.

It works best with bigger market/sector moves (for example Gold, Silver, Oil, NASDAQ, FTSE, etc...) and not individual stocks.

I am now looking to sell how it works - most probably as a "how to" information product, but maybe with a subscription option for those people who dont want to

I appreciate this is not a marketing forum, but I would value your advice:

What is your biggest question when it comes to investing in the stock market?

For example, is it "is this a good time to buy stocks?", "when will Gold go up" - or anything else?

Many thanks,
Alex C

  • So you believe your computer system has an edge on the tens of thousands of PhDs, and industry experts, as well as cutting edge machine learning algorithms which have synthesised all publicly available metrics from all recorded stock/market history to predict future outcomes?

Why? And how confident can we be that past performance is down to chance/luck as opposed to a systematic edge?

That would be my first question, but perhaps such a product is not aimed at me :)

If it works as well as you indicate then why are you posting here? Surely you would be using it (used it?) to make yourself a multi-billionaire? If you aren't yet a billionaire, then why not?

My biggest question would be "Should I put my faith in something devised by someone who has been 'studying the stock market for some time' and has 'come up with' a computerised system to facilitate timing the market"?

My own non-computerised thought-process is currently formulating an answer to this question.

The answer seems to be er... no.

If you could backup your assertions then other people may have confidence in you. For me to have my confidence you would have to have:

    1) Many years experience working in the Financial (stock market) sector.
    2) Millions or even billions of pounds to your name
    3) Expertise in Computer Science to be able to implement it correctly

If I had all of this, then I would not be shouting about it on a public forum. Sorry if this sounds harsh.

What a shame you've misjudged the market so much, wasting your pitch by disguising it as spam on an internet forum, instead of seeking face to face meetings with fund managers responsible for billions.

So your system can also pre-empt OPEC's decisions? That's impressive.

    Perhaps it's one of these?

Thanks, very useful to guage sentiment.

The system doesnt make millions - it avoids major market crashes and shortlists other markets where the money would be better placed. Very similar to sector rotation but with an added twist.
  • To avoid the 2008 crash I would think you have been using this system for, say, ten years now?

Can you point us to a place where you have previously posted anywhere about this project over that time line anywhere in a public forum or any where in fact?

Seems strange that you have sat on this for 10 years and not spoke of its existence before today?

If you have 20% returns on average for 10 years and invested 5k adding 5k each year ( I would add considerably more if I had a impossible to fail system) you would have about 200k now.

To not be considerably well off by now with this system is a massive fail on your part.
