  • Thanks all - feeling OK at the moment as lying flat! Will need to get up shortly & take the dog out - have stuck a wash in (muddy towels!) as it's sunny & windy out so hoping to get them on the line!

On a more positive note ..... it should now be a NSD compared to a fairly hefty spend! :o

Must check out the YNAB thread .....

Fingers crossed but hoping to finally sell the dog's old bed later - which is technically new as the little sod only lay in it once  so that'll be £15 to start off my 'sell £250 in 2016' (I know I'm a couple of days early but ....)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!
  • Hi all :)

Back to work today, it's slightly more busier than I thought but at least the day will go in faster.

Just refrained from buying some soup in work there, it was lentil too which I love!
I'll make an extra payment towards the credit card tonight and put the money into my account tomorrow.

Not much more in the sense of saving money or paying off debt as it's 10 hour shifts I do, by the time I'm home it's bath my daughter put her to bed then all over again, I do have tomorrow and Thursday off though.

  • Afternoon All,

Festive greetings to all. I am new to this site so I am still learning the language of acronyms and how to do smiley faces in this body of text!!
    My list today was:
Cancel the Virgin Media TV bundle. Done! I will miss my full season of F1 but the money belt needs respecting.
Cut up the credit card. Done!
The only other item on my list was not to get annoyed at the debt mountain!! It will all go away slowly but surely.

So looking forward to a strict budget year. The DMP is moving to SC and I have to hold the hubby's hand every step of the blooming way. I am also going to teach myself to bake cakes too. I have plenty of time on my hands as my seasonal job finished Christmas Eve. I will start looking for part time work again too. Need to keep my mind busy and bring in a little bit of extra money if I can.

    Thanks for listening.

    Happy, healthy new year everyone.
    Pace.
    Money scares me.

    Honesty update will arrive shortly......:o

OH has walked the pup (he is off out shortly but I thought he could do that before he went - it is difficult with GD, as, although she loves walks, she wants to hold the lead, has tantrums if I don't let her, but lets go of it if I do, and the road is busy here  So I avoid taking them both out together on my own at the moment.

Clip two leads onto the dog. One each.

So it's been all glamour here:

    *
Drove to work in the rain the other night. Car window was a bit steamy so I put down the electric window...which then wouldn't go up again. I always carry a shower curtain to protect the car from frost so I jammed that in the door as a temporary measure. Then, next day set about fixing it. Loads of fiddling about inside the door and WD40 got it raised again. Not opening it again til I can afford to fix it! :rotfl: Secondhand switches are selling for about £60 on eBay so it'll be an online scrapyard job.

    *
DVD player jammed closed. It's built into the tv. We knew when we bought it the tv is guaranteed for years but the DVD player only for a year. Apparently this is standard practice. Built-in DVD players aren't built to last. Sigh. Haven't been able to free it yet. Most DVD players have a wee hole you can insert a straightened paper clip into to release jams. This one doesn't. For the time being I've plugged in an old freestanding one we got for £12 in Tesco. It works but its fan is really noisy. Hope to fix the broken player this weekend. Hoping hoovering out the dust might help. :o And some WD40 carefully applied with a cotton bud while the set is turned off.

Afternoon all, Thanks Jonno for the start.
Hi to everyone else & welcome to newbies, its a great thread.

Not a nsd day but a planned spend day, its my mum birthday next week so we took her out for lunch today instead of a gift. It was one of those all you can eat world food buffets, £7;50 each 1/2 price for the kids. I didn't over eat but watching the waiters taking other tables leftovers to the bin I found really annoying :( So much waste. Aw well its done now and my mum enjoyed.
