Tuesday 29th December what small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

    Morning all :)
Thanks for the start Jonno :)

Just popping in quickly to say hello, as I am babysitting today, and little GD will be here shortly.

    Aims for today:
OH has walked the pup (he is off out shortly but I thought he could do that before he went - it is difficult with GD, as, although she loves walks, she wants to hold the lead, has tantrums if I don't let her, but lets go of it if I do, and the road is busy here  So I avoid taking them both out together on my own at the moment.
    Hens fed
Use up more leftover food, I must confess I gave them the remains of a chocolate cake this morning, as I don't want to eat it and it is going a bit dry anyway - wonder what they will make of that?
NSD (I shan't have the chance to spend anything :rotfl:)
Put dry washing away - thank goodness I did it yesterday as it is raining again today :(
Try to keep sane in the face of naughty puppy / baby combo  (their favourite game is tug of war at the moment)

Not sure how much else I will get the chance to do (how ever did I manage when I had 3 children to look after?)

Thanks for the start Jonno & morning Dawn and everyone who follows

Have a big problem :( supposed to be meeting my pal today (only get to see her a couple of times a year so it's a big deal) and I've *hurt* (not really the word I want to use but ...) my back

Historical thing that flares up now & then - it was bad yesterday but I hoped a night of lying flat (with little sleep!) would sort it and ... nope:( It's OK when I lie down flat or am standing - but as soon as I sit down O M G it's excruiciating. 1/2 drive + 1 hour train journey each way and I just can't see how I can do it .... (I've had 2 lots of painkillers & no change)

*sigh* why today of all days grrrrr

So ... plans for today are now all up in the air .....

    BUT I will also:

    - Work on 2016 budget
    - Try to do a stock take of cupboards
    - Tidy as Mum is coming tomorrow!!
    - Do a dog & hang up (muddy towels everywhere!)
    - Hopefully get my 2016 Sell £250 challenge off the ground!
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

    Hi All

Rising - sorry to hear that I hope you will recover soon.

Still camped out at the in laws. It all got a bit tense last night as my son was getting a bit stir crazy which was due to dinner being served so late and he was hungry and tired (retired folk keep their own hours don't they) then he was setting the dog off who was making the baby cry. Oh woe :)

Anyway plan for today is going into the nearest large centre for a look at the sales. I don't plan to buy anything but son has xmas money and so does husband (mines going to debt payments) so they want a look. Then more rellies coming later for the night.

    Today's small things
    1. PAD
    2. Tommorow is payday but won't be able to do all the budget stuff till we get home so keeping a weather eye via the smart phone.
    3. Eating at in laws

    Have a good one all.

    Bob

    Morning folks,

Thanks to jonno for starting us off

RFTA - I hope your back calms down soon. *hugs*

I am back in work today with four other very bored looking people with no work to do. I'm hoping that the sound of me typing this makes it seem like I'm working very hard. Tappity tappity tap tap tap... :D

    Today's list:
    • B/L from stores - done
    • M-I-l meeting me after work with my niece. Hoping that m-I-l will be inspired to buy me some dinner. If not, dinner from stores.
    • Dusted living room a la flylady - done
    • Charge phone in work
    • Check online banking and reconcile spreadsheet
    • Prompt OH to take all the stuff to the cs - done
    • Crossfit at lunchtime. I may die of post-Christmas unfitness - done
    • OH has a poker night with his friends. As he doesn't really drink any more I'm hoping he will win their money off them ;)
    • Crochet :o
Small list but as I'm back in work, I can't get nearly as much done. *sigh*

    Have a good one all

That made me chuckle - thanks :)

Well, I've returned to bed - and flatness ...... I fed the cats & attempted to clean out their litter trays made me realise that I was absolutely kidding myself to think I could sit on a train for an hour! (twice!)

We're going to have a long chat later instead - not the same but *sigh* (she is one of my oldest pals - one of the few from primary school I'm still in contact with - so thankfully totally OK with it)
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

  • Well hello there my lovelies :D

Thanks for the kickstart Jonno :A
RFTA - poor you with your sore back - I hope you start to feel better soon. Small gentle movement is what Dr La e prescibes! ;)
Carrie - I love it that you're 'working' :rotfl:
Bob - think we are quite near you atm - about 20m from Brighton
Dawn - I can imagine exactly what you mean about your DGD trying to walk the pup. Bless. :)

Big hellos to everyone who follows :D

I've updated YNAB today - need to do a bit of reconciling though...
Going for a wander round town with OH - just browsing really but will stop for a coffee for a 'treat' :D
Texting pal back to say we vote for staying in on NYE ;) (really can't be bothered with expensive bars etc anyway - even if we had the money!)

OK best go play with niece and nephew :D

    Happy Tuesday everyone!

  • PS - I know this isn't the 'I love YNAB' thread but wow - I've saved around £500 this month for future planned expenses (insurances, future bills etc) and paid over £700 to debt repayments incl. £250 off OH's overdraft which costs a tidy £30 a month.

Feeling pretty good about this so far!
