  • I'm surprised theres still a market for sat navs seeing as google maps on your phone which is free does the exact same thing.[/QUOTE]

in Spain they charge a lot for this I think, Sat Nav is free if you have on that works
  • If she's in time for the eBay case the seller has to offer a label for return, if they don't she can ask eBay to "step in" after a certain time (maybe 7 days, I'm not 100% sure).

Chances are if the seller doesn't accept the return from their side and issue the label eBay will refund without a return when asked to step in.

Yes, sorry to be clear, if a SNAD is opened the seller can't decline it. The option to open a 'SNAD' outside of the timeframe is purely for communication for seller/buyer, it isn't a SNAD, it's a request. Either way, the buyer is well within SNAD claim times for Paypal and quite likely for Ebay too.

the Sat Nav heading was Garmin European and the model and in the description it said European again so that's why she assumed it was and not UK. It also said good condition it is and works but its UK maps and to get European installed will be more money and because it has a small memory not all Europe can go on just Spain and Portgugal. The seller has said yes it needs updating but If the maps were on it as described then they would update it for free by Garmin. Nothing in the description said it was UK only Europe was mentioned twice, so no confusion she thought, till her son charged it and discovered indeed no Europe just UK

Even if it DID have european maps because it's second hand, the free eu maps would of been activated by the person who bought it, and only downloadable when plugged into pc/laptop on their account. Thats what my old tomtom had anyway... It had free lifetime maps, but needed to be registered/signed in and activated by a code, and only once you had signed up and activated you had to keep logging in to do weekly/monthly updates. So if I wanted to of sold it and for the new buyer to have constant updates, i'd of needed to given my account details away too... which obviously I wouldn't of.

So seller contacted and said stuff you basically.

Which wasn't mentioned in the OP.

I have no problem with paypal cases being opened if seller is unco-oparative. I just think running straight to ebay or paypal when something goes wrong is overly adversarial in most cases, and sellers would appreciate being given the chance to rectify any issues.

My TomTom has Euro maps and doesn't require any of this.

Exactly what you told us will happen- ebay will decide in 5 days (although they tend to take a day longer than they state)

If they decide there is a valid claim buyer will usually be given a pre paid returns label and a time frame in which to send item back. Note that it is important that at the very least Proof of posting is obtained-, depending on the service stated on the label it might be worth ensuring it is sent tracked even if buyer has to pay extra. Once item is returned to seller refund will be given.

If ebay decide there is no case then that is the end of the matter as far as ebay is concerned.

Ebay will almost certainly decide in her favour, the description clearly indicates that it came with European maps.

Funnily enough i've had more problems with satnav not being able to find a satellite (due to appauling weather) then i've had with "no signal" for googlemaps... infact I've never had that problem. I'm not doubting there's potential issues for lack of signal in different countries, but like I just stated, satnavs aren't perfect. Hence why I ditched mine and now use my phone ^_^
