in lan window auto is ticked. kaspersky is installed and windows firewall.

You can ping -t 192.168.0.1, but can't browse in IE. In IE, click tools, internet options, connections, make sure "never dial a connection" is checked, click on lan settings, and make sure everything is unticked.

never dial is checked and nothing is checked in LAN but still cant dislay the web page also turned off firewall

the gateway thing in cpanel networks, have you deleted it?

should i delete the gateway?
how can i get the http to work when i type it into the ad bar but the page cannot be displayed?

yes delete the gateway.

do you have a usb key, if so, download firefox on the other pc

Put the progam on a cd upstairs as dh work laptop wont allow downloads so I will load it on to the not compliant machine now. thanks

Ok so firefox works fine, browses any site, but IE comes up with error still on same PC? What error message?

did you delete the gateway

In control panel, security center, does it say windows firewall is in use?

tried to delete the gateway but it wouldn`t let me. turned off windows firewall. on any favorites clicked windows cannot display web page. on tiscali home page connecting but blank with error dns in left corner.
