I always think we could sell our house and move up north and buy somewhere cheaper but I don't know the north that well, at all actually.
No need to worry
All Norveners are totally trustworthy; will tell you honestly how much the house they are trying to tell you is worth; will disclose any risks from flooding / pit shafts collapsing / that sort of thing ; will let you know of any neighbours about to appear on C5 / Jeremy Kyle etc0 -

In some northern towns, the minicab drivers are so generous they will offer to give your children lifts for free.0 -

The flat has increased £23k in the last 12 months and I expect another 25% over the next ten years when I plan to sell/move/buy.
Weird, Belper in Derbyshire is actually one of the few places in the north I have visited.:)0 -

Are you sure you've thought this through
Exactly what I thought.
Was watching some property !!!!!! the other day where people look at overseas holiday homes. Some parvenue was being shown places in Morocco for half a million quid. Morocco? Who buys in an Islamic country today?? Then the titles came up and it was made in 2008 (though even so).
I hope the daft arriviste didn't actually spend half a million quid in Morocco.0 -
Zoopla is claiming an insane annual increase of 14.2% on our home. £245k to £280.
Think this is something to do with the house opposite distorting the values for the local area - it was bought for £820k in 2011, and has recently sold (after being completely renovated from semi derelict to pristine, its footprint and rooms increased by about a 1/3, addition of a 13 car garage and extensive landscaping works) for £2.1M. The view from our upstairs windows is much improved.
So we've got the (false) increase from Zoopla not realising the house opposite has been improved markedly to get its price increase, and the true increase from the improvement in the local area.0 -
Why wasn't there a "!!!!-all" option in the poll??
..oh, sorry, forgot most in this section are southerners......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
And I thought a certain German (or possibly Austrian) said there wasn't enough living space in his adopted country?
% increase in house prices, 1970-2014 (real terms)
Germany: 1%
USA: 60%
France: 122%
UK: 346%
