I can feel the smell of payday this Friday but it is pure torture. I sat down today and tried to work out what needs to go where. I am so exhausted now. Does anyone else feel like this? It just feels like an endless circle. It is not until the next one, assuming I get the same hours that I feel I can get a payment plan properly organised.
Today the ink cartridge went and dd2 came home with a trip letter. Although the money is not due yet I am starting to wonder if I will ever get in control. I know I should look towards the positives in life but sometimes it is so damn hard.
Nothing really else to add, having a low day today.Don’t put it down - put it away!

Made it to payday with £3.21 in my purse. I don't know how to describe the emotion knowing that I can sort a few things. I have paid one bill online so far and will probably be back later to update.Don’t put it down - put it away!

went into town yesterday and have sussed out the savings account at local uniform shop. once finances are more in check will start to put at least a £1 a week in.
I have paid what i can and will now amend the list ready for next payday. as long as hours stay static till half term i have a good shot at getting things more in hand. i am job hunting for a permanent position rather than zero hoursDon’t put it down - put it away!

Well done on your diary progress, sometimes writing things down will help.. Taking a step at a time and a few deep breaths to get everything into perspective.
Have you actually written down all of your debts, amounts and interest rates so you can see everything clearly?0 -
all the people/companies owed to are written down and i have a list of miscellaneous ones that will be popping up before easter.
i wrote my token letters to buy me some time to collate the exact figures but i roughly know the amount. i am hoping that by this time next year i will be in a happier financial state!Don’t put it down - put it away!

I think that today I am posting now as a delaying tactic to tidying up! This is partly because I knocked over the shredder and bits went everywhere so it has been snowing indoors!
Anyway, I going to pack up three envelopes later, one ebay, a second to do with a tax mileage claim and the third to reclaim some bank charges. Alongside this I finished off two job apps and have emailed them. There are also two more I like so hopefully will do them later.
I also sent an email to qq about an old PDL , don't think i'll get anywhere with it but if you don't try then you never know!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Just popping my head around door to offer a bit of support, you are doing well and I can definitely see you making progress and gaining more confidence each day as you post.:D
Just keep going forward with those baby steps, it may be slow, but you didn't get here overnight and all that matters now is that you are getting control and learning to make better choices.
I don't know how much your children are aware of the situation, and I am not suggesting that you tell them about the debt (unless you want to/or have done), but they will need to stand on their own feet one day and it would be a good thing if they are aware of the facts of zero hours contracts versus the bills that keep coming in anyway, they need to know that choices must be made between needs and wants and that slipping a load of things into the supermarket trolley that are not on the list mean that other things cannot be bought. Sadly, we have all been brainwashed to believe that our children should have everything they desire and that if we don't oblige we are bad parents:( Let them help take a little of the pressure off you and be part of "team tibawo" with you.

Good luck! You're right though - sometimes it can all feel so overwhelming! You've made a great start by documenting it all and trying to see what you have vs what you owe.
I found once I had addressed it all I felt much better And more in control.
Wishing you wellThis will be the (second) year:beer: Target £20K:eek:0 -
Thanks all for popping in. It spurs me on and makes me feel I am not alone. I think managing money is abit like that sensitive tooth advert that when you have paid the debts you stop using the planning and then wonder why it all comes back!
My children have always been great. I think they probably fair better in understanding that money does not grow on trees compared to the children I work with. Food shopping is great. They have sussed out if something is on offer they stand more chance of getting it and always say 'can I have this it costs x' and don't sneak things in the trolley if I say no not today. If they are are after trying a new food stuff they know I will keep my eye out for a special so they can try it!
Unexpected time off today thanks to the zero hours work being cancelled. Had a reply to the PDL So might fire another email off to them with more details. Two things need to go on eBay and I have 'a list' of things to work through. I am a list person otherwise I forget things!
Have managed to save £20 on spending this last week. Some of which will go on topping up the store cupboard. I always found this useful when you have a really hard week as you know there is still food in. As mine love pasta it does make things even easier!Don’t put it down - put it away!

Your children sound so lovely, you are obviously doing a great job:A
I love my store cupboard too, although it is probably a bit excessive with the baking stuff at the moment, I don't have a very big appetite atm and seem to have lost my sweet tooth:( so am not getting through things very quickly, I still bake for OH, he uses a lot of calories cycling, but the foul wet weather has meant that he has not been doing as many miles and has put on a bit of weight, so has been trying to cut back a little, still it is all dry goods and apart from nuts and seeds will keep for ages and I don't take much notice of dates, being an old soul who has been around a long time before they appeared:rotfl:
I hope that you have a productive day.:D
