Thanks again Mrs LW . You have described how I felt . I left school at 17 straight into what was then Inland Revenue as a hgto (the younger posters will be baffled by that ! I never needed office skills my letters were typed by tos or dealt with on vdus -anyone remember them
I married at 21 had 4 children over 2 generations and apart from household appliances ignored technology . Fast forward to hearing of Martin and wanting to see his site . Poor youngest spent a couple of years allowing me to read on her desktop . Just over 5 years ago eldest DD presented me with a shiny new laptop ! The offspring decided I would learn best on my own . Like yourself I was petrified . I feared breaking it . I could get myself on the site follow the threads but no idea how to post . Youngest took pity on me some months ago and showed me how to compose and send Email
Each December for 5 years I have resolved to tackle my nemesis . Yesterday I took a deep breath and jumped in and was so glad to see your .reply .To all on this thread apologies for dominating todays posts . After many years lurking I feel I know you all . Promise I wont post again on the subject Polly. It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Polly, post as many times as you want. The more you use it the more confident you will become.
I lurked for about 18 months before I plucked up courage to join, and as you say by reading the days posts you feel you know the posters.
As Lyn has said many times, we love having new friends to talk to, so don't be a stranger now.

Polly, also as you know we see so many ups and downs in the lives of us all who post here, and it is such a comfort to know we are being thought of in kindly terms.

Thank goodness for tech savvy offspring who eventually take pity on their greying parents and actually tackle showing them how to operate a computer eh Pollyanna? Mind I'd be lost without my window to the wider world that is the internet if it disappeared suddenly one day and I know I'd be very lonely without all these super online friends to brighten my day and make me smile when I'm feeling low. Post whenever you want sweetie, whatever you want to say or need to share that's fine, there are no limits, just friends on this thread Lyn xxx.0

For all the bad press the internet gets its never sites like these that get a 'good' press. I am a very sociable old biddy and so am never short of someone or something to natter about
I have friends though, who for whatever reason now find themselves old, alone, (not abandoned,) but everyone has busy lives and often forget about the simple act of saying Hello to another human being
Gone are the days of the friendly milkman/postman or even baker that kept an eye on older people.
The internet is a great 'meeter' of people I have met a few on here in 'real life' and had a jolly good time with them. I have also had long middle of the night natters a few years ago on here when I was going through a rough period of time health wise, chemo is not a nice experience
But because you can almost always find someone to 'chat to' at some point those middle of the night natters were a life saver at times.
So you chat away honey as another poster said we all have to start somewhere and there is very little you can do to a lap-top (unless you drop it in the washing bowl its not keen on that
:):))
I have had a nice afternoon,we decided to have a drive down to Herne Bay and let the dogs have a good walk .weather was quite mild and it done us all the world of good to get a bit of fresh air.
Tomorrow I am taking my DGS Ben to the movies as he is my movie buddy and we will watch almost anything. We are going to see The Heart of the Sea, his G/F is in South Africa visiting her Grandpa for three weeks so I thought I'd keep him occupied and busy.
All his Uni assignments are up to date so we are going to have a bit of Granny/Grandson time together. He goes back to Uni on 9th January and I know I shall miss him dreadfully.Right there is a piece of cheesecake thats just begging to be cleared up.Only three more days then normal healthy eating will be resumed
:):)
Have a good evening what ever you are doing
Deleted_User My thoughts are with you at this awful time honey
God Bless

POLLYANNA - I have to agree about the Royal Liverpool, the care Mr TA has had there has been second to none. Though he was only referred there for the actual radionuclide therapy and scans which couldn't be provided by St James, Leeds, which is where we go for his main care. It's a 40 mile round trip to Leeds, which is bad enough, but Liverpool is a 145 mile round trip! Fortunately he keeps well enough to travel to each by train, which is expensive enough, but cheaper than taxis and far less hassle than driving!
I haven't done much today as I've been having a bad day "below" with the damned IC. You'd think someone would come up with a cure after the alleged 80 year research into the condition that's supposed to have been going on! Instead I have been dosing myself with painkillers and feeling sorry for myself. I have brought myself a bottle of Shiraz in from the wine cellar (aka the garage!) to warm up and to cheer myself up with this evening! (We are just waiting for a Foyle's War re-run starting on ITV3 due to nothing worth watching on the main channels)
Have a nice remainder of the evening folks xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
JackieO Wonderful post . Much of what you say resonates . I wrote a lengthy reply but when I went to send discovered I wasn't logged in - cue panic ! I will try again tomorrow . Thank you . Polly .It is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

TA Just a quick reply have just lost a lengthy reply to JackieO and I need to walk away from the laptop ! I am so pleased you are happy with the Royal .At the moment and for the last two years my DD has not been able either physically or anxiety wise to cope with public transport . Her immune system is heavily suppressed so with the amount of time we spend in various nhs waiting rooms she picks up infections all the time . A few years ago our GP was given shared care - bloods etc . He was then allowed main care so we attend Liverpool only 2 or 3 times a year if all is well . The GP sees her every other week minimum and her many meds are balanced as and when needed by him with the exception of the Chemo drug which is the province of Liverpool . I do hope you manage to get some proper help with the ut you don't need that . Look after yourself . I think I'll go and watch Foyle too - for the umpteenth time !
