Weight Watchers v Slimming World

Weight watchers has just started a new plan which is designed to reduce the amount of sugar people consume in their points, therefore it encourages you to use your points on more healthy foods. I find WW better for those that don't cook from scratch most nights as SW seems penalise processed food more. Also WW has an option that is similar to SW in that you can come off daily points and instead eat unlimited foods off the Filling and Healthy list, only pointing those that aren't and deducting them from a weekly allowance..
The simplest things are stir-frys - chop a load of veg and some protein, make a simple sauce, serve it with some rice or noodles. Or learn to make your own pies and quiches.
Casseroles are also a doddle especially if you have a slow cooker. Chop a load of veg and protein, stick it in the slow cooker in the morning with a casserole mix (e.g. Colemans do some good ones) and turn it in before you go to work. Serve with skin-on-mash or new potatoes.0 -

Did you claim the money back then? Under their 4 week guarantee if you followed it correctly?0 -
Nah, I felt so sheepish about it I just never went back...!

12 years ago I lost 3.5 st with WW and kept most of it off for some time - never went back above a size 14 and had been a size 20 at my worst. This summer I realised I was within a stone and a half of my worst and popped a button on my biggest walking trousers so it was time to act. This time I used a combination of MyFitnessPal and 5:2 and have lost 2 stone. still 8lb to go to where I want to be so will add 5:2 back in once all the xmas goodies have been eaten.
I like tech and use Endomondo to record my activity (mostly long dog walks) and this feeds in to MyFitnessPal automatically so that I can use the extra calories if I want to.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Pensions, Annuities & Retirement Planning, Loans

I'm doing SW with some success but will pick up on the OP's point re technology/apps - to put it bluntly the SW one sucks and may well be a reason for me to look for an alternative recording solution (maybe MyFitnessPal) unless they come up with a better solution in the near future0

Crazy exercise and better lunch choices seem to be working for me

I'm embarking on the 5:2 now instead (and using the fitbit app to track it all)
That's not to say it doesn't work, there were people in my group who'd lost about 7 stone and kept it off! It just didn't work for me, i was eating far too much for my body to cope with (pasta is my weakness and it being "free" didn't helpO

I started slimming world this week, so too soon to say if it will work for me. The main thing with all the free food seems to be to have 1/3 rd of the plate as speedy foods (most fruit and veg but not potato and higher calorie ones). Without this it wouldn't work at all as it would be all steak and potatoes lol.0

My partner took 4 years to lose 12.5 stone with WW. He still attends meetings and this motivates him a lot. Last year I lost 2.5 stone with their filling and healthy plan.If you change nothing, nothing will change!!0

Really depends on you. I tried WW, did lose about a stone but got fed up with constantly counting points.
Put weight back on and more, last August started SW. Found a really friendly group (I appreciate they aren't all).
Have lost 4 stone 2 pounds so far.
It's generally just healthy eating if you follow it properly. My weakness is chocolate but I can have it on plan.
If you don't want to cook from scratch there are a range of meals available at Iceland stores, although I don't use them, some members rave about them.
I've never stuck to a healthy eating plan this long ever and last week bought my first size 12 top in years...it was a wonderful moment for me and keeps me going. I celebrate those non scale victories, such as smaller clothes and being able to walk without getting out of breath, keeps me in track.
Once you get your head round it all you don't need to be constantly recording things...I dint anymore as I don't need to but with WW/calorie counting you will always have to.
Goodluck whatever you choose to do
