I'm away in couple weeks for my bday so I'll book appt when I get back if I still have symptoms. Not sure I'd want to go away if diagnosed and it'll be a waste
If you do happen to have undiagnosed diabetes, a lot can happen in the next couple of weeks and you could become very ill. Surely you would be better to see your doctor and exclude it, rather than risk a diabetic coma?
When people talk about diabetes, they usually mean diabetes mellitus (which has type one and type two). There is another type, called diabetes insipidus. My son was tested for both, but the second required a day visit to hospital (he was five at the time, so not sure how things are tested more than ten years later).
Also, regarding the same son has had problems with his in the last couple of years - I didn't know you could have problems with it, during its development. Although he didn't need any treatment, it was reassuring to have it checked out.
I would definitely recommend seeing your doctor before your holiday, just to be on the safe side. Also, will you really enjoy yourself if you ar worried or concerned about your health?0 -
My thirst has calmed a bit and I'm not rushing to the loo as much. I'm also more weary about the chocolates. I'm ok - as I said if the symptoms get worse or return, I'll see the gp.0

I don't really want to be worrying about this all as stress is no good for blood pressure and insulin levels. I'm young slim fit and active. My body was probably out of balance. Some things just have no explanation and your body resiliently rebalances. I'll keep an eye on it. I'm thirsty a little now but that's because I've only had 2 cups of tea and glass of water which is my fault - drink lots at work but little when day off.0

if you exercise a lot you're bound to wee loads. as you're drinking /sweating more.
I can clean 2 litres before 9am on some days. I'm a serial wee'er though, always have been but I've always guzzled water from a young age and without fail wee at least once during the night.
I drink about 5 litres of water a day. I'm worse after any kind of exercise. I can p!ss my whole body weight immediately after a pilates class.
I'm just super dehydrated. I do have a medical condition which could be related as the excess water guzzling was a sign of diabetes, but consultants have all said it's just the way 'some people are'.0 -
See my 'want to add weight' tread.
I'm 0.5 stone underweight I think. I want to add 1 stone in 2016:j:j
So I was hungry recently and with weeing I thought I was diabetic. Maybe I am. Then I thought maybe I have hyper thyroid. But no other symptoms of that other than hungry. Then I concluded that as I've been eating more maybe my stomach had finally expanded and making me more hungry.
Today my mouth wad dry. No real thirst today. Just dry mouth.
Sounds like I'm getting worked up huh.
As I say, thirst has calmed a little.
It's reassuring that there's nothing wrong with you. Maybe you have a rare condition where your body over uses fluid.0 -
I have both type 2 diabetes and hypothyroidism, but showed symptoms of neither. They were discovered during batches of blood tests for another condition.catoutthebag wrote: »See my 'want to add weight' tread.

As you are still posting, you are still obviously worried, so at least ask for a free test from a pharmacy. It takes only 5 minutes including signing paperwork and costs nothing .
As you are not a child, the chances are that , if you have diabetes , it is type 2,in which case nothing frightening will happen.
You will get a 30 minute appointment with your practice's diabetes nurse(or your GP id they don't have nurses). There you will be weighed, have your waist measured, feet examined and be given a form for further blood tests, just as a precaution.
They have cut down on referrals now, but may get a one-off appointment with a dietician and podiatrist.
Unless your diabetes is more advanced, the first resort is to improve your diet and taking more exercise; both of which help whether you have diabetes or not. (I've managed on this for over 6 years, though I'm expecting a review next month).
My hypothyroidism is treated by a tiny daily tablet, which has just once been upgraded after an annual test showed the need.0
