In the likes of Tesco's maybe, but there are still thousands of shops using older tills that don't work out the change for you (I've never worked on one that did). Plus the most common reason for giving out the wrong change is getting the note wrong, i.e. thinking you've taken a £20 instead of a £10, rather than adding it up incorrectly.
People make mistakes sometimes, that makes them human, not stupid. When I had my loft converted back into a loft, the neighbours came around and scoffed, and called me retro.0 -
Some years ago, in a High Street store, I walked away from the till before checking my change. When I did check my change I found that the cashier had returned my twenty pound note plus my change. When I went back the cashier would not even let me explain what had happened. All she would say was I should have checked my change before leaving the till. After trying to explain three times and each time the cashier telling me she wasn't interested I thanked her politely and left the store. I had my purchases my reciept and was over fifteen pounds better off. Sometimes it's impossible to be honest.0
