Thanks folks - will peel off the chocolate covering and do the bread and butter thing, I've got plenty of cream still. The pannetone is meant to be Amaretto flavoured but the cake is just very flimsy. And it's quite difficult to cut because of it.
I too have got an unopened Stollen though that will keep OK. As my personal challenge for 2016 is to not eat / drink sugar (wine) then it may have to keep for a long while.
I need to get this fat a*** moving, shift the excess and get back to fitness again. Over the weekend I saw a photo of an old friend, whom I hadn't seen for nearly 20 years, and he looked dreadful. He was such a handsome man in those days, in a turning heads sort of way. As I was thinking to myself about how bad he looked I glanced in my mirror - and saw how bad I look! Talk about karma!Time to look after myself more.
End of introspection - I need to clear the clutter out of the utility room. There are all manner of unwanted or unneeded things hiding on the worktop. One is a really lovely three-fold wool pillow which is so brilliant to sleep on, but it has a terrible 'sheep' smell when it gets warm that it's almost unbearable to have in the bedroom. It stinks the place out. It's such a shame but it has to go - can't even give it away as it'll have the same effect for everyone, even the warmth of a dogs body will start the smell off.
I imagine the local tip will be very busy for the next week or so!
Thanks again for the advice.

Afternoon everyone!
Not a lazy Sunday here at all. Shot into Newcastle first thing and got a good parking space too! Needed to take back a lovely Per Una jumper that had a fault running through the material - very, very annoying. I told the Manager who was on returns at M&S that the standard of quality is no longer there. She replied to me that M&S has mushroomed in size and that Quality Control is still robust but the odd thing will slip through! Do I believe her - nope! Anyhoo good job I queued up as soon as it opened because within 20 minutes the returns queue was snaking quite a way around.
Got two tops in John Lewis with 50% off so happy with those
Had a wander through Next - nothing of note at all. Popped into Fenwick's and bought next years Christmas cards and wrappinglove their cards but I love them even better at such a good discount as well.
I am now at home sitting here in this beautiful sunshine and loving it! Yesterday was awful just rain and wind and urgh depressing weather. Today is fab.
Jacket potoes are in the oven as I type and that is for tonights dinner - the turkey will be finished off in a curry tomorrow - we just couldn't face turkey curry today not after Christmas and Boxing Day of having turkey - so we have got a break and then thats it goneCat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Elona, how are you, I heard Tadcaster mentioned on the news?
I hope you are OK, those poor people, what a dreadful Christmas they have had.
Hugs if you need one

Good Evening everyone, we've had such a fun day with the Zebra. His Mum and Dad went to the cinema this morning and left him with us so we played with his cars, went to the park and on the swings and slide and then went to visit my brother and sister in law who are 'Grunt' and 'Grunkle' not great aunt and uncle (their choice of names!) and we tired the Zebra out so much that he slept from 12.30 to 3.30 and since then I've been either chasing him round the house or he's been chasing me round the house with squeals of laughter and much hilarity. He's currently in the bath squealing with laughter and being sung to by his Mum and Aunty. I think we'll ALL sleep well tonight but it's been wonderful! Cold meat, salad and jacket potatoes for supper tonight and when the Pickle goes down we have an evening of board games planned and some lovely home made mulled cider to finish from yesterday. DD2 DSIL and the Zebra go home tomorrow after lunch as they have a birthday party to go to for one of his little pals from nursery. His words are coming thick and fast and he's a real little person now, no longer a baby and an absolute delight, I'm biased I know but I do so love him.
Hope that all of you have had a lovely Christmas time, and that you are all well healthy and NOT flooded, stay safe everyone, Lyn xxx.0 -
Mrs LW today is the day I am putting my technophobia aside . I first
delurked because of Docky and confess it was my words but my daughters fingers on the keyboard ! I am the same age as you and although I bought my four now adult offspring desktops and laptops over the years I never felt the need myself . I was about to post again when the new site problems began and I began to develop a phobia about posting . Ihave read along and thanked but today have decided to beat this demon . Thank you for your posts and my best wishes to yourself and your family . P xIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Evening everyone
Travelled up north to visit family today. Took me over 8 hours to travel 234 miles. I don't think I went over 30 mph for most of it. Anyway I had a safe journey and arrived in 1 piece which I am grateful for.
I had bought my dgs a second hand balance bike for Christmas, which I brought up with me. Doesn't even look like it has been used as tyres are like brand new and no scratches anywhere. I paid half the price of what they normally retail for so really pleased.
Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.0
