A TV ought to work the same way, but it's down to the software. (Eg the humax could potentially record the third program that you are watching, but the software doesn't allow you to.)
Sorry - I'm not tech savvy (as you'll have gathered:o). I know that when I'm recording two programmes and try to watch a 3rd I occasionally get a message that it's not available whilst recording. I assumed that was something to do with those mysterious things called MUXes:)0 -
Yeah... a multiplex is just where several channels are bundled together into one transmission stream. When a tuner is set to that stream, all the channels within it are available.
For me, all the BBC channels share one multiplex, and the other "main" channels (ITV, channel 4, channel 5) are on another. The other miscellaneous channels are distributed over a further 3 or 4 multiplexes.
(This is for SD : the HD channels are spread across other multiplexes, but I don't currently use those.)0
